Rattie Posted May 3 Posted May 3 As a dispatcher, I use text chat exclusively when communicating with a human player at a neighboring station. In real life you wouldn't have that option, and would rely on calling them instead. But I am under the impression that is highly discouraged. It could however bring an element of realism to the gameplay, if used. That made me wonder: what is your take on being called, when dispatching trains? Would you be okay with it? Or would it break your work flow? Please post your comments. I am genuinely curious to know your opinions on this. 🙂
lewnemejski Posted May 4 Posted May 4 It is very interesting thing on INT servers. People there rarely use voice communication from my observations. Meanwhile on PL servers, especially PL3, I think more than 50% of players use it. Voice chat is more convenient and you could communicate much faster, that is very helpful. On the other hand many young players overuse voice and it could be annoying.
jeroezie Posted May 4 Posted May 4 You can always ask your neigboring dispatcher if they like to use voice / phone call or chat. 1

Or You're missing headset for different reasons (it's broken or any other reason). Then text chat just replaces voice communication. Thanks to god developers provided different options to communicate. 3

I personally don't have a good setup for voice chat; I tend to sling my BT headset around my neck in addition to my wired headphones, and I often simply can't be bothered. (And also I don't want to annoy my partner who sits next to me.)
