funny things you saw in SimRail ?

The skeleton of an EN76 rolling into Katowice My game crashed right after i took these screens I guess i wasn't meant to see that and a sniper took me out to take down the only wittness 😆 -
You guys have working windshield washers?
-
You could turn towards a solution like the Knorr D series or the Dako BS levers Those have 9 positions for service brake and the lever clicks on every position so you know how far you pulled it back and how far the pressure will drop without looking at it Basically their positions are: Fill Drive Neutral Service 1-9 Emergency Disabled Think you could also go with virtually predetermined positions if you could pull it off some way

I'll be honest, i'll agree with that. I did use it a lot in the beginning but now i can't even remember the last time i used it sice i learnt how to drive the thing There are already too many keybinds that do nasty things if i accidentally misclick lol Meanwhile all i'm waiting for is a keybind that sounds all horns

XP for neutral sections
Atoka220 replied to sf_giants15's topic in Suggestions for improvements [Multiplayer]
They have but it shuts down the entire thing and applies emergency brakes Basically the driver puts the controller in the -- position and then motor contacts instantly open and the position switch begins its journey back to open position (as opposed to 0 where the position switch first runs down and then the contacts open) And at the same time MCB is opened and pantograph is lowered and the loc begins emergency braking (and in some types it even sounds the horn) It also results in an instantenous big jolt and a loss of power in the train so drivers really only use it in utmost emergency situations -
XP for neutral sections

Now that's a clever solution with the magnets Here with our old fashioned way we have what are called 'ambush sections' That means neutral sections in unexpected places and if someone doesn't have enough knowledge for that line, it can be pretty out of nowhere. And then panic, and begin the procedure of cutting power, shutting down loads and praying you have enough time to open the MCB before the actual neutral section lol And well cutting power is fairly slow with our old 'position switch' type locomotives (don't know what it's exactly called in English) that take their precious time to run down the position switch till finally the contacts open and power is cut towards the motors. You know one expects neutral sections to be near stations (as they usually are) but sometimes they can be out on the main line in the middle of nowhere 😅 -

Hungarian server
Atoka220 replied to Chisato Nishikigi's topic in Suggestions for improvements [Multiplayer]
Any chance of having one again? I do see a lot of huns and their numbers are increasing since the update. As the original post says, some of us can't speak english nor any other language. Also as polish and hungarian railways are somewhat similar, we could also just use the same phrases as on real railway and well, that would feel awesome and immersive And the sim is also available in hungarian afterall -
XP for neutral sections

In hungary we have either air insulated 'phase limits' where a neutral wire is brought in, the phase is raised away from the panto, has 2 section insulators with a very short (1-2m) neutral wire inbetween them and it's lowered down again and the neutral wire is brought away and out Or section insulated ones where there are only 2 section insulators that the pantograph can slide on and have the same very short neutral wire (if there is a neutral wire) We only need to turn off the MCB when passing them, pantograph is only lowered if there's a specific sign for it (which is usually pointed out in a written order) But unlike you, our trains are 40 to 60 years old and only do 120km/h max Well of course we have some more modern ones for show off going 160 near the austrian border 😆 These sections however can only be activated when needed, such as a locomotive got stopped and is now stuck under the neutral section. Or if there's an outage on one phase, 2 sections of wire can be closed short and now there'll be one phase across both sections until it gets fixed. Normally, the neutral sections are never energized - but can be when needed Of course we only study about 25kV 50Hz here so i'm not familiar with dc overhead wire systems -

Ahh That's new info to me. Here we have our uttermost respect to neutral section signs as shorting 2 phases of 25kVac together is pretty bad 😁 -
No, if the voltage drops, current drops too but it overloads the system as the loco is trying to pull all the needed current but the low voltage can't force it through the resistance anymore. So the low voltage protection tips it open. Ohm's law But on the bright side it helped me maintain precise 50km/h with the swaying motor currents lol

For me it might have been overloaded under icy wires. I had train heating on and the pantograph fell and i stopped on the main line in the middle of nowhere I tried everything, reverser into neutral, unlocking every overload relay etc, but even for god's sake neither of the pans wanted to go back up again. I activated the bot, allowed it to go on for a while, regained control and i was back to no pantos. Indeed there should be some troubleshooting manual or tutorial cause it was damn embarrassing lol

Frosty overhead wires When the wires turn white, your pantograph will spark and the voltage will jump around cause of the imperfect connection to the wire. Heating can't handle it and WILL pop your breaker open Also fun fact. The bigger load you put on the frosty wires, the bigger the sparks will be. And heating does contribute a lot to it until your breaker pops So whenever i see white wires above me, i instantly turn off heating in panic mode (lol)

Improve paper timetables in the cabins
Atoka220 replied to peter's topic in Suggestions for improvements [Multiplayer]
What i'd suggest is adding some sort of night mode to the timetable. That is when i'm driving at night, it's dark in game, dark in my room and then i open the timetable, that bright white light just burns my eyes out and makes it a bit uncomfortable to use (but still it's one of the best additions to the game) -

Or just have actual voltage dropouts and if you drive under it without cutting power, the MCB should pop, giving you some work to fix your mistake -

My lord it is indeed an insane update! I'm completely blown away by the new graphics and performance, and i already love the EN57 😁 Also the new timetable in the cab is a very-very nice and wanted touch.

Upon approaching Grodzisk i was put on a wrong track as i was supposed to stop for passengers When approaching, i saw the repeater signal showing a steady green but the main signal showed a red Meanwhile the HUD showed it as a single yellow What i guess might have happened is the dispatcher realized his mistake and turned the exit signal red which would need this signal to show a yellow but this can only show green or yellow-green as far as i know. And so the signal not being able to show a yellow, it fell back to a stop aspect. But this is just a guess, i didn't see it change as i don't use the top right hud and was coming in slow trying to contact the dispatcher (before he left) SimRail_log_2023-11-02_12-50-54.txt

There are 2 types of simrail drivers Those who derailed And those who will -

Yep, i always note: Ahhh another quiet eventless day or something like that when it comes up in the chat 😆 I also derailed twice. My train got deleted so quickly i didn't even have time to comprehend what happened lol
