EU-07 Central panel indications explanation.
Angelo replied to SJAY's topic in General Discussion [Singleplayer]
Hi there! Let's see... 1. Compressors max current protection. May trip if you turn on the compressors right after turning on the converters/fans. You can reset it with the green button near the lamp. 2. Converters/fans max current protection. 3. Main circuit breaker closed. 4. Traction motors max current protection. You can reset it with the green button near the lamp, after setting the power to zero. 5. Traction motors differential circuit breaker. May trip in case of a fault at one of the four engines; you would then need to find out which one you need to exclude, but this is not possible in SimRail. 6. Converters/fans temperature protection. I don't think it's simulated? 7. Repeats a relay, which is on when the power is at zero and it is possible to give power to the traction motors, so brakes are released, main circuit breaker is closed, power available, etc. 8. Wheel slipping. 9. High current mode (you can drive up to 800A instead of 600A, but you can't use parallel). 10. Powering the traction motors through resistors. This reminds you that you are using the resistors to power the loco, and should exclude them as fast as possible. 11. Power available to the coaches. -
Is the EU07 a lame duck ? EDIT: NO, not any more !
Angelo replied to Glendathu's topic in General Discussion [Multiplayer]
Just to add to your post: on the EU07 the max is 600A, or 800A in high current mode but only with the motors in series. Keep in mind that voltage spikes (are they simulated in SimRail? I get confused with another Polish sim) may suddenly increase the current a bit, so keep some clearance from the 600A limit to avoid tripping the motors protection. With that said, your priority should be staying the least time possible in the positions that use resistors. The motors can take some high current for a while, the resistors don't like being kept on for too long - so don't hesitate to drive at high currents, especially when starting. -

Could you program it to send shift +/- when needed? -
Cab Sway / Car Physics
Angelo replied to jayzhead's topic in Suggestions for improvements [Singleplayer]
...or silently, slowly disabling the cab sway when mouse movement is detected, then slowly re-enable it afterwards. -
I can see there's at least one mistake in that Wiki page: the overload relay is described as something that has to do with SPADs. It's not.

Cab Sway / Car Physics

Yeah, the "bull" ET22. Which, by the way, will be in SimRail - as a DLC perhaps? Air suspesions are too modern for the EN57. I don't know in Poland, but here where I live they were introduced in 1979 with our first double deckers (well, if we don't count some cars from the late 1800s), I guess as a way to keep the cars at more or less always the same level, despite loading twice the amount of passengers of a normal car. We now have single decker trains with air suspension, built way more recently. Also, the EN57 is limited to 110 km/h, which itself doesn't taste like modern suspensions. And even if it had them, the kick you get when starting is definitely something you feel. In fact, personally, in SimRail, I always start with the brakes slightly applied. If some people find cab sway unpleasant, they should be able to turn it off with an option, like in some other sims. -
Are you sure the radio has been properly turned on? Unlike on other engines, where you just need to push the white button on the left of the radio set, on the EN57 you also need to close a switch on the main switchboard. It should be the last one in the second row iirc. Is the green light on the radio on?

Map updated - please see the first post. Sławków (Sł), Łazy A (Ła), Dąbrowa Górnicza Ząbkowice (DZB+A) are now playable.

ED250 Pendolino - Train brake handle difficult to control
Angelo replied to DazT's topic in General Discussion [Singleplayer]
Yes, the ED250 brake handle has fine control, at least in the pneumatic braking sector. -
Hi 🙂 I like to play without the HUD, except for talking to AI neighbouring stations, because relying only on what you would have IRL makes SimRail way more immersive and fun to play. However, every time I open a railroad crossing CCTV, I have to remember to turn on the HUD before clicking on the screen, because the G key doesn't work when looking at the camera monitor. My suggestion is simple: if we press G whilst not looking at a camera screen, the game HUD should show up/hide; but if we do so whilst we're looking at the CCTV, its own HUD should appear/disappear. Thanks for all the effort you put in developing SR and congratulations for the amazing work done so far.

Correct. In real life, Dabrowa Gornicza Zabkowice is controlled by two signalboxes: DZA, only for the switches towards Łazy, and DZB, for everything else. By the way, in SimRail, if you enter DZB and look at the frame, on your right you can see a green part of the panel which IRL doesn't exist since it's located in DZA. I suppose it's a temporary solution, just like every other green tile in the simulator (did you notice those green tiles on tracks 4 and 6 in Bedzin? They too are different from the reality and are probably just placeholders in the sim). I'll add that, whilst you should never skip a ph stop unless specifically instructed to do so, you're free to skip any pt stop if the signals are clear.

Have you tried dragging them? Also, if they're far, try to zoom in a little bit.

XP for neutral sections
Angelo replied to sf_giants15's topic in Suggestions for improvements [Multiplayer]
Wait, so you don't have a neutral section between them? Here in Italy we have both 3kV DC, like in Poland, and 25kV AC (on high speed lines), like you. Under 3kV DC, sections are normally connected via a normally closed disconnector, so the voltage difference between the end of a section and the beginning of the next one is always zero; therefore, no special caution is required when passing under them, except under special circumstances which must be notified to every train with a dispatch. This makes me wonder why in Poland you need to cut off the power: are your sections not normally connected? Under 25kV AC we have many neutral sections, most of them are kept powered so it's like they don't even exist, but some of them will have 0V for a few dozen meters (don't know how many exactly) to insulate one phase from another. These neutral sections are activated or deactivated depending on the current demand on the national electric grid, which trains help to balance by using more or less of each of the three phases. At any rate, you're required to lower the pantograph, which is done automatically since we're talking about modern high speed trains, but there is a section of neutral overhead wires between the phases. Does this section not exist in Hungary? -
I just installed Windows 11 and now SimRail works! Really impressed with the update. The graphics are stunning, the sounds are gorgeous, my beloved EN57 is fun to drive (of course it is!), and Sławków, with the signalbox at ground level on the first platform, makes me feel at home - it used to be a common solution, here where I live. It required more work than I expected to get this sim update to run, but it's worth it!

Dąbrowa Górnicza Ząbkowice - switch side protection problem
Angelo replied to kolyokcica's topic in Issues archive
So that's how the Domino 67 works! I was confused by a lateral switch in Zurich Oerlikon that kept moving back and forth, since it was lateral for two tracks, both of which are really busy. I'm familiar with the Italian ACEI, where lateral switches are usually treated like normal switches (except on the 0/17 and some modern variants of the 0/16 but that's a story for another time): they're not only automatically set, they're also locked (you can't move them, even with the individual lever) and the position control is required to set the signal to clear. So, how come the Domino 67 can move a switch that is already requested as lateral by another route? Are they not locked? Is their position not required to keep the signal to clear? If I lock a switch in the reverse position and try to set a path that requires it as lateral in the normal position, will it work? Thanks! 🙂 -
Dąbrowa Górnicza Ząbkowice - switch side protection problem
Angelo replied to kolyokcica's topic in Issues archive
I'll hijack this thread to ask a question on how Polish srk work: if two paths are set that require 41+ and 42+, in which position is 43 required to be? -
Great... didn't know that, thank you. At any rate, Steam is goint to drop support for Win 8.1 by the end of this year, so I guess I should move to 10 anyways.
-
As written in the log, I have a RTX 2060 (with DirectX 11, 12GB of VRAM, driver version 30.0.14.7381) - so it shouldn't be a problem. Besides, Simrail used to work perfectly before the update, except for the wipers that didn't clean the raindrops and made driving in the rain impossible, or at least unpleasant. Ps I also meet all the other requirements.

It's in the middle car. You have to leave the cab and walk inside the train to get there.
-
Thanks, will do as soon as I get back home from work... on saturday 😅 Edit: the video card should be visible in the log, at the beginning; I have 40GB of RAM and I will look at what CPU I have, I recall it's an i5; I have Windows 8.1.
-
Hi, As you can see in the attached picture, no sky is shown since today's update. I already tried reinstalling SimRail and rebooting my PC. My video card drivers are up to date. It happens in both single and multiplayer. SimRail_log_2023-11-21_19-57-13.txt

That would be great! Can't wait for the map extensions, then! Oh, I only recently started following Discord, and yeah, I did miss it. Although I did read somewhere that the next update should come out this month - is it true? I know it's a lot of work and it takes a lot of time, but the last update was half a year ago - and we did see some really promising pictures of the EN57, ETCS, seasons etc.

I'm sure the quality will be high and the price reasonable; I'm just not interested in rolling stock that couldn't be used in multiplayer - and I wonder if and how DLCs will be implemented in multi.
