Has anyone been experiencing stuttering every few minutes, and heavy stuttering at the city station? I'm running the game on maxed settings, with distance set to 1700m.

Check your texture resolution in settings. When I decreased mine from 1 to half the stutters vanished completely.

What are your specs?

I suggest installing a tool like gpu-z to monitor GPU load and vram usage. You can use the built in windows performance monitor to measure CPU and ram usage. Try and work out whether any particular component is causing a bottleneck. I had to tweak my settings because I was running out of vram, but I only have 6gb. Everybody's situation will be slightly different depending on your system, resolution, game settings etc.

It's not a system bottleneck, it's something with the game. It happens every few minutes (maybe loading new area or something), and the game freezes for 1-2 seconds. I know it happens to others because it happens to my friends as well as YouTubers.

Since the beginning of the playtest I used to have some big lag/stuttering moments, the game hanged for like 3/4" but then recovered; it rarely hard-crashed though.

I think that the last patch made these occurrences a bit more rare, but when they happen they'll now develop into a full crash more often for me, has anyone experienced the same?

Also, is it me or graphics and general performance degraded a bit since the first version of the playtest? 🤔

I play @ medium and the game runs perfectly fine. Perhaps 1/2 textures resolution is crucial for that. GTX 1050, 12 GB RAM, i5 8th gen. Pozdro

I'm not saying the game stutters the whole time, I said:

So to re-iterate, most of the time the game runs fine. Every once in a while, every few minutes or so whilst driving, the game will stutter for 1-2 seconds, and then everything will be fine again.

This may happen when new train is spawned near your position.

I find moving the camera whether in cab or the signalbox and be very laggy, even freezes for a few seconds.

Intel I7 4770 @ 3.5Ghz (stock).
Nvidia GTX 1650 4Gb Vram
24Gb System RAM.
Mechanical HD.

Try to decrease texture resolution in settings menu.

I will but of course that will decrease the visual enjoyment.

I really need a new PC but at current prices a new medium specification rig is > £1200. And I doubt my current box would benefit from a RTX 2060 even, especially with only 450w PSU.

Vern I have my settings all the way down to medium, and it's fine.  It still looks pretty good in my opinion but I do remember ultra and it's amazing.

Will try that later Sean.

And try with AMD FSR in "performance" setting 🙂

i get the occasional pause for a second or 2,  it must be when something big is being loaded in?

and sometimes i seem to get on a server where swapping cameras results in some lag, but if i switch to a different server i can get no delay at all.

so i'm not sure if it's the data going between the servers causing the lags (is this possible?)
It's nowhere as bad as tsw's pauses, glitches and lags.

I run everything set on high or ultra,

Lenovo Legion 5i pro gaming laptop.
i7-12700H
16GB DDR5 - 4800 (upgrading to 32 or 64 gigs soon)
RTX 3070 Ti
1 TB SSD M.2 2280
Running at 2560 x 1600 Resolution, @ 60Hz (screen can do 165 Hz, but i see no need for that on a driving sim)

I'm not sure AMD FSR is even working right now. I was changing Graphics settings in-game yesterday, and the difference between running AMD FSR on Performance and straight 4K was like 3 FPS, which is unheard of, since the Performance mode runs the game at like 1080p, and if I set the game to 1080p, I would get much more FPS. Hell, I set the resolution to 3200x1800, and I was getting more FPS than with FSR on Performance, which leads me to believe something weird is going on with it, and as such, I will investigate it further today, and would ask that anyone with AMD hardware does so as well.
