Can we have driver-only servers back?

Recommended Posts

There was a lovely week or two where some servers were driver-only, can we have these back? I'm not interested in playing dispatch, single player is obviously limited and my last 3 attempts at sessions have been ruined by bad or trolling dispatchers, constant unnecessary chatter on the radio (yes, I know the tracks are clear, this is why we have signals) or being sent entirely the wrong way. Until people have a way to learn what to do offline I'm more inclined to find a server with no dispatchers and hope none join, but there are no guarantees there.

So could we have the segregated servers again? In lieu of a proper offline training module it is a safer place to learn how to control the game.

I agree with you. Driver only servers would be great. Constant unnecessary chatter on the radio and inexperienced dispatchers have ruined several sessions for me as well. Hopefully AI dispatchers will be improved in the future.

As someone who mainly plays as a dispatcher, I too dislike when there is too much unnecessary chatter from the dispatchers. If I talk to a train, it's usually in text chat.

I feel like the minimum time to play certain stations needs to be raised on some and/or the difficulty rating revisited on some stations. Some relay desks need to be locked behind more time played first IMO. Have had a growing issue of driving or dispatching next to someone that shows like a new player level 3 on a complex relay desk and not knowing how to operate the station right causing problems.

One potential solution for the radio problem could be putting a range on how far people can hear. Maybe even an alternate voice chat button for that (like a proximity chat) so everyone on that channel doesn't have to hear everyone for no reason

On the chatter front, I am perhaps guilty of this myself late at night and even then that's only rare very occasions, otherwise I'm silent either as a dispatcher or a driver! The only time I'll usually speak as a driver now is when I'm royally p**sed off!

It's got that bad with a select few when they are dispatchers that I've now got a list of names going.

Yes it's fun the first time to be routed by some obscure route, but when you're doing the whole run of the line and several people try it on with you it gets a bit much.

More than once I have muted unnecessary conversations. Of course, I can't mute someone's microphone, but at least I can't hear what they're saying.

I think I've been routed by you a couple of times Daz, your name seems familiar - iirc you did keep it to a time when nobody was within 30km of us, and the routing itself has always been solid!
