Pendolino claims to have 250 kN of effort even at 190 kph?

I have some doubts about the tractive effort gauge on the Pendolino. When accelerating at full power, the gauge will display the maximum 250 kN seemingly regardless of speed. 250 kN of tractive effort at 190 kph is a power output of a bit over 13 MW. That power would require around 4000 amps from the 3 kV DC line, but the screens also indicate only around 1800 amps are drawn. This leads me to believe the gauge on the screen isn't showing tractive effort, it just cannot be accurate. Maybe it's showing the % power output, so 100% power = 250 kN, 50% power = 125 kN??? That's my best guess but I don't know for sure.

Yeah, I’ve noticed this, too. I assume the gauge in the game currently shows a percentage of whatever is currently the limiting factor – at lower speeds, that’s current tractive effort divided by maximum tractive effort (250 kN); at higher speeds, that’s current electrical power divided by full electrical power (6 MW).

Traction control (‘throttle’) levers are often interpreted exactly like that (at least when AFB/tempomat is off), so you have finer-grained control at higher speeds. However, the traction gauges/displays generally measure actual tractive effort, even where they’re labelled with percentages only. In SimRail, it’s as you said – not just in the ED250, but also e.g. in the Traxx and in the Dragon.
