Vote for kick system

Seems most people agree the AI is a bigger issue than any trolls. Perhaps this is why they are dealing with this first then worrying about troll measures. People just need to be patient and let them figure it out. I have AI flowcharts I use in programming my own projects and they seem to work pretty well even in advanced track conditions. This includes multiple lengths, smaller sidings (in North America). In Europe you don't have to worry so much about the later but priority is definately something you should be concerned with. Thanks Sean -
Industries as in RUN8
SurvivorSean replied to Japo32's topic in Suggestions for improvements [Multiplayer]
With the servers resetting and being public I'm not sure how they are going to achieve this. In Run8 for example you would actually do a save before any boot. The reboots here (unlike Run8) are to clear out issues in traffic where in Run8 it's to reset the CPU due to simply needing a reboot from time to time. If the servers can eventually save their status I would like to see some kind of feature work. AI shunting would be incredible but I haven't witnessed it on any sim to my knowledge (Trainz is scripted). It would have to be an on demand based system. Thanks Sean -
Holding up early trains or not ?
SurvivorSean replied to Aero1995's topic in General Discussion [Multiplayer]
So what about at SG for example? I see it listed at a 17 minute layover in the schedule. From what I can tell that is in play because of the traffic coming behind him that can overtake. The big question really is when is the next siding actually available. I know some places like Lazy lc & Bedzin can handle it (oddly enough this is right before Bedzin which I find an odd place to hold at SG). The issue I don't want is to have a freight limited to speed eventually slowing down much faster passengers because they can't find a siding to get out of the way. I'm not sure how AI handles this situation. As far as I know AI DOES NOT hold the freights at SG despite the schedule calling for it regardless of how early the train is. Thanks Sean -
As far as the sim goes, this is a time of day issue. It is also a limitiation of computers even at 4K of the visual spectrum and how the human eye perceives light in real 3D instead of a 2D screen even at high resolution and colors. In real life (I would assume the same could be said of the video though I didn't watch it just going by the description) some color light signals slightly move off the line of sight, actually get dirty, lose efficiency. For example I remember some color light signals that were new instalation in 2000 that went up in my city here in Canada. Today in 2022 even at night I can tell they are not pointed properly or don't show as well as they once did. Thanks Sean

Logs are very important. Not sure why I got down voted for global moderators as I think it's better than a vote system. I understand the idea behind it, but believe it would be more a PITA and can be used against legitimate people by the trolls as mentioned. If you have logs and trusted moderators (either employees or those in the community that have a good history) then you will see a reduction of this isssue. Of course having private servers solves lots of these issues. I know some people complain about private servers taking away from the public server pool. Trust me I know the feeling but in the reverse. I ran a private server in Run8 years ago and can tell you the more private servers that come on line the chance less people visit you for whatever reason. It was through a time when there was no AI in Run8 which made it very tough. By V2 they had AI but you needed people to dispatch and run. By V3 they now have AI dispatchers, but still need people to run the switching and yards. Each version they get better so the fact that we have full AI right now and currently no switching means running on a private server you are interested in will allow you to run with like minded people with a set of rules that meet your own personal criteria. It will also mean MORE opportunity to get the chance to run bigger signal boxes (something that the current demand for big boxes is starting to show as people race to get the few limited challenging positions). As the number of people grow it will only get more crowded on servers. Hell look at the numbers on the Polish servers (obviously the most popular being a Polish simulator. I bet you they would love to see some private servers. Private servers is the ultimate way to solve the issues, and the public you are left to your own devices to deal with it. Thanks Sean -
I think using others such as TSW (which I don't like much about other than scenery), Run8 (Which I like everythign but lack of content and editor, and others is good to refrence something that might be nice to see or not see in another simulator. I can tell you right now I had my own idea for a tower sim over a year ago and it was working the towers in SimRail that finally pushed me into doing somethig for North America based freight railroading. That to me is a positive for SimRail because it inspired. I have no intentions on being a SimRail clone. Nor do I think SimRail should be a clone of anything else. Besides this team has a clear direction and goal they are heading for. A few people asking for certain features here and there along the way provided it doesn't take away their focus is only going to try and make more customers. As long as they keep their focus and drive and are happy about bringing their creations to life. Thanks Sean

Global moderators was suggested. Probably the best method. -
Why i must play tutorial :(?
SurvivorSean replied to Luki Buzz's topic in General Discussion [Singleplayer]
Honestly I don't even compare this to TSW because there is no comparison except scenery perhaps. Run8 is a closer comparison and I have run that for the better part of the last 10+ years. That had a strong learning curve and also was weak in tutorials at the beginning. I only drive the one with the wheel because I have a hard time with the more modern engines. I want to get to learn them a bit better and will work on it over time. But I would say from that perspecitve including the start up the Polish equiment is more complex. Thanks Sean -
Wow, applause for attention of detail

I haven't explored all the extensions yet and Warsaw is one one of them. So far I only ran the bypass from SG once. If I have some time I might have to take a run. Though I also need to build up my dispatching time at some point if I want to fight everyone for the big desk in MP. Thanks Sean -
I think the option is plausible. For me personally it doesn't take away the emmursion. So what you're suggesting then is something where you want to start at a certain location, and take the next train, service type, or a certain train? I am curious as I think it would be an interesting option. I know in Run8 they have to click on the train to get it to relinquish AI which means the train comes to a stop (which I do like). A passenger in the middle of no place suddenly coming to a stop is a bit strange especially for passenger equipment running on time. But it is common and possible in say North America when a crew is running out of time and needs a recrew. Thanks Sean
-
The issue is with MP what if someone is leaving, do they have to call ahead to get a crew change. What about if you want to take a train, do you have to wait at a crew change point. Is a crew change point at every location? As mentioned it's the best option for MP. People have real jobs and busy lives. I'm all for better simulation, but that is why it's a simulation this isn't reality. Thanks Sean

I think this should be an option. The reason I say this is it's a good place for tutorials on how to dispatch certain types of boxes, as well as a place to practice and earn dispatching hours toward bigger boxes. I know the AI is being worked on right now, this could also be a valueable debuging tool of how the AI is performing. The big thing until more complicated desks become available and the AI improves over time, there is huge demand for he challenging desks. I've already noticed how busy certain desks get when joining MP after a server reboot. It's first come first serve, you may not get what you want. Over time I expect this to be even more competitive to get your chance at certain boxes. Thanks Sean

I've had the white light come on. Normally I would blow out the circuit before it got that far. There are some steep grades. 1 is by a bridge on the coal route. I noticed someone mentioning this in the last 24 hours and ran out of time at lunch to reply. But indeed I experienced the same issue in the play test. I should've posted it as a bug (but I had some posts about it in general I think). Thanks Sean

Yeah I had it on my run the other day. Was driving me nuts so I closed the windows 🙂 Thanks Sean -
Why i must play tutorial :(?
SurvivorSean replied to Luki Buzz's topic in General Discussion [Singleplayer]
Yeah I think the restrictions are fair. If people are serious about playing they'll get it done. Thanks Sean -
So calling people fanboys and nerds is OK. Calling people winers and shouting (I can't shout on forums and I don't recall using that term) is BAD. That to me is illogical. I'm trying to apply logic to this situation. You pay for what is in the current package not future updates and the hopes. It's called an investement and some investments are better than others. If you already got what you wanted out of that investment then is should be no risk. If you haven't the risk is on you, not the so called fanboys who actually enjoy the sim. I enjoy the sim, but have got bored of it personally. We will wait and see what the future holds. I already got my money's worth (though it was a tough decision to make). I made my bed now I'm lying in it. Thanks Sean

Considering this was only addressed very recently (and please don't put me in the fan boy club becasue I'm not really playing this right now) could they possibly have an issue of saving that is causing them issues? I know these things sound simple, and doable. But for whatever reason there is an issue adding it in? Also anyone buying games on promises, hopes, or a roadmap that's your issue. I bought this on trying out a new desk and seeing what they would bring for the future. If they bring nothing then I know what I paid for. Not to mention all the time we tested this for free, and enjoyed it (at least I did). Thanks Sean

Single Player - Limitations

Go to the main menu and take a poop 🙂 Heck I keep my computer on most of the day. Just another possible solution. Thanks Sean -
Why i must play tutorial :(?
SurvivorSean replied to Luki Buzz's topic in General Discussion [Singleplayer]
NO you need to DISPATCH for 6 hours to enter the big signal box. Others you can play, and as you dispatch more others will show up. After 6 hours of dispatching you have access to all signal boxes. Thanks Sean -
Why i must play tutorial :(?
SurvivorSean replied to Luki Buzz's topic in General Discussion [Singleplayer]
Everyone wants Zakowice. It's the new SG 🙂 I'd like to see more trains and random events as well. I know I was getting bored. Here is the thing I've noticed. if you like randomness go on to the busier servers and you'll start to see a bit but then you likely won't have access to the big boards or have to fight for a chance to get in. If you go to the ones not as busy you'll wind up getting your choice, but nobody else is on so it's not as random 🙂 Hopefully once the AI bugs are ironed out (I assume that is why the schedule is not more realistic right now such as rush hours, etc.) then things will get a bit more interesting. Thanks Sean -
Single Player - Limitations
SurvivorSean replied to BigVern's topic in General Discussion [Singleplayer]
As someone who is also developing a sim (much smaller I might add) I do get the language barrier, and pressure. I also get the people who because I've failed to deliver on my goals cast me out as vapourware. I don't think that last term will apply to this sim. Besides we got plenty of free itme to play and test this before already. I bought in and I may not use it that much. I have my own projects to deal with but it's a nice distraction. Thanks Sean -
Timetable Early Access
SurvivorSean replied to SurvivorSean's topic in General Discussion [Multiplayer]
So after playing it looks as though there are more trains because of the expanded areas, but the timetables have not changed or are repeating. Is this planned to change in the future? I take it it's still simple because you are working out the AI bugs and don't want to overwhelm things. Thanks Sean
