4 electric heaters on full, in the dark in winter in an armchair in a box on your own with an hour in-between trains was very difficult, well, what I can remember of it zzzzzzZZZZZZZZ 🤣 The trick was finding the armchair sweet spot, it's not quite the same in 24hr office chairs, I'm all for progress but give me a box with levers any day! PS, long length of carpet over the frame, it stopped the draughts 🤣

Sounds just like our railway here in the UK! The best one is the term when something is "Temporary", that means "about 30 years" 🤣

I've also been held in the past on an S-Bahn when I was right time, again at SG heading for Katowice for an EIP that was also right time, and also stopping at SG AND is booked (ie. timetabled) to follow me all the way to Katowice. I was held back because I was told it had "priority", NO, it does not have priority when BOTH of us are on time, or should I say were on time, I ended up being about 5 late where the EIP was then early waiting for a free platform at Katowice, ironically I then undertook it, so a pointless move in the name of "Priority" The word "priority" seems to be the buzzword for "ignore the timetable", it should only come into effect if one or more trains are late and then, and only then if a late train is being followed by an on time train that would then itself be delayed, and the late train cannot get to a regulating point (a place where it can be dealt with) before the on time train would. Regulating is an art, I do it at work every day and have for about 15 years, you can't be taught it, you learn it from experience which is why I try and bite my tongue a little because we're all new to this in SimRail, over time people will think "well I did X move 3 months ago, it didn't work, we'll try this way instead", and that's why it's a simulator and not a game, and I've made some shocking regulating moves at work over the years, some you win, some you lose.

Similarly I've been held numerous times heading south (or West!) at SG when on an S1/S41 heading for Katowice for a late EC or EIP that stops at SG anyway. Yesterday I went from 13 late to 28 late where if I'd had just been left to run including doing my two other stops I'd of been at Katowice by the time the EC I was being held for at SG actually arrived. Between SG and Katowice there's little point giving EC/EIP priority as the linespeed is only 100, dropping to 90, then 70, then 40.

More keybinds! (aka pretty buttons with a lazy button!)

That's what I meant Gazz292 you worded it better, global controls! -

DazT replied to DazT's topic in General Discussion [Multiplayer]
And any common shared keybinds really need to be the same, unlike that other company's product where two (or near) identical items of traction can have different keybinds (more so with the Raildriver than the keyboard, that's the only reason why I got the stream deck because the blue quick keys on the RailDriver on TSW is different on every bit of traction!) -

I need to do a bit more tweaking first. It's doubtful we'll get it (but who knows, the devs might surprise us!) but it'd be nice to have all the cruise control one-press buttons on the EN76 as actual addressable keybindable (probably not a word, it is now!) buttons, rather than my half-hashed attempt that either increments by +/- 5, 10 and 20, which is done by getting it to fire the appropriate number of key presses with a slight pause in between. I thought 5, 10 and 20 would be the easiest for now as if you needed to set 40 for example from 0 you just hit the 20 one twice (with a slight pause in between the presses), or to go from 40 to 70, 20 <pause> then 10. -

It's funny having a "Go!" button and that comes from this me seeing this video (below - 1m32s) ages ago, and I can hear his voice in my head when I press it! I might go one step further, snip that sound and add it to the button so it actually plays it when I press it. I won't go the full hog with a hat and white gloves though pmsl -

Bought out of frustration with TSW (which I've hardly haven't touched in a month!) having different keybinds depending on which loco/unit you were driving, having one page per traction mean I can have buttons in the same place even if their actual keybinds were something different. -
What does pt mean in the timetable
DazT replied to Tiraken's topic in General Discussion [Multiplayer]
Still think that Olszamowice, Pilichowice and Opoczno Południe should just be merged and made into a 'mega' workstation/panel, then there's more chance of it being staffed by a human then. -
Depends what panel/workstation I'm on, if I'm at a small shack in the middle of nowhere, I'd not expect to talk to a driver unless there is an issue. I don't get being told that I've got a clear signal, if you're going to tell me that then we might as well do away with lineside signals!
-
Spotted this issue more so since the March 2023 update but when driving, there are instances now where the screen will flicker black a few times and then go all on cab disco for about 10 seconds
-
With regards to the AI not looping trains correctly, I've already reported it

EU07 / EP08 cab light switch, changed to the 'overall light' switch

I noticed that too about the dead flies on the window, more so when it's raining, obviously the wrong sort of wet to clean them off! 🤣 I'm hoping for a mass of keybinds for the EN76/96 cruise control presets, then I can load my Stream Deck up with loads of buttons! -
Or they've seen your driving, "Nah, we'll wait thanks" 🤣

The subject of early running freight (and even early running passenger trains) will always be a hot topic of debate (believe me, it is, even at my work also as a signaller in the UK) But as stated above if the driver is given the signal to proceed it's not down to the driver to question it. I do however give them the option first and if I've got a margin to run something early and discussed it with the next box, then I will. You are always going to have mixed ability of signallers on the simulation who just don't think and just fire routes in willy-nilly without thinking of the consequences further down the line, but with experience you get to learn the timetable and know what works and what doesn't work. Also, it's what makes SimRail different from the "other games" (Yep, those Dovetail ones) is to have a stuff that's out of the ordinary, but in reality on the real railway is very much the norm, late trains, early trains, stuff breaking etc. If you want everything on time, Tsw is the place to be! 🤣

It'd be nice if the number of passengers stood on the platforms changes at different times of day, I've frequently done evening and even late night runs and there's a lot of passengers hanging round some stations in the middle of nowhere at 3am! Hopefully when the game moves on a bit more and we get a realistic timetable rather than the testing clockface one we've currently got the service will thin out in the evening, perhaps more freight at night before the passenger stuff ramps up again in the morning. It's weird driving around at 3am with a full timetable running!

Next dispatcher station (week 11+)?
DazT replied to Skully's topic in General Discussion [Multiplayer]
For the busier workstations I'd like to have the option to pop out the workstation screen onto a second monitor as trying to signal trains even on a semi busy area and then having to come out of the workstation view to tell the AI what you've sent them gets a bit much, that's why I tend to stick to the cube panels now, no faffing going in and out of screens. -
More details on the train list
DazT replied to sampisa's topic in Suggestions for improvements [Multiplayer]
Direction of travel would be nice too, and/or even showing the start and end point on the map would be even better! At present you don't really know where the trains are coming from and going until you've been playing it for a few weeks. -
For what use? In the box where I work we only have 1 CCTV monitor and that's for a level crossing we've got to aid with the lowering and proving "crossing clear' procedure. The only other box I've been into on a visit that I know has CCTV for dispatchers to use to see what's going on at stations is the RhB at Landquart, but I guess in Europe it's probably a more commonplace thing than the UK.
