So you are saying that the booths have light you can turn on/off? All of them?
-
OMG I'm praying there will be SM42 in the game.
-
Yeah, I'm wondering this as well. It doesn't have to be an exact hour, maybe just a time window or something. I'm supposed to be going to my parents for Christmas, I really wanna try the SP before I go. 😁😅

Wonky stuff tends to happen with electronics, almost all the time, as if only from solar activity. Telling someone to turn it off and on again is actually legit advice.

Opening passenger cars doors with the EU06 loco
TheShotte replied to wutt's topic in Bug reporting (multiplayer)
As above, the only thing I would like to add is, when you're meant to stop in a station, you have the info on your HUD in the top right corner of the screen. The distance counter will keep counting down. 0 is the start of the station relative to you, and you will typically pull in with 300-200m left to start of station. Depending on the length of your vehicle, it is possible to stop early. You know you have "stopped" at a station successfully when that distance counter turns green. If it's the regular color, the game is not recognizing you as "stopped at the station". This happened to me once or twice before I got used to things, and sometimes the "Read to Stop" text bugs out, where it shows up for a split second and disappears. Hope this helps. -
Man, you need to realize this game is ACTIVELY being worked on. Part of that work is updating and working with the servers, so there may be some issues.

Chłopie przestań, proszę cię przestań. Znowu przeczytałem jedno zdanie i przestałem. A więc koniec tematu.

Unlimited possibilities? Ability to add things through code? That way literally the sky is the limit. I mean, don't get me wrong, but a good GUI, and general ease of use would be a good thing, but you can always learn an editor, even if it's wonky. If they don't allow us to use custom classes than we will be severely limited as to what we can implement into the game.

The servers restart every 3 hours, I'm in EST time zone so for me it's at 12pm, 3pm, 6pm, 9pm, etc. except like Sean said, it's sequential. What that means is, the first server will restart, go back on, the second server will restart, go back on, etc. I've essentially come to expect a restart at 12:00-12:30pm, 3:00-3:30pm, etc. If I am not playing, I will not start until those windows close. Also, I am fairly confident in saying that the server restart will get less and less frequent as they keep fixing up the dispatcher.

Routes? What about locos? 😆

Where did you get anything about early access? The Steam page says the full game launches on the 13th of January. At worst they would extend the release date, but I doubt there's going to be any sort of "early access". As far as to the actual rolling stock that will be in the game at launch, I would like to know as well. I mean, we can pretty much assume based on the intro trailer there will be the following: EN76, EN96, Pendolino, EU/EP07, ET25 Dragon 2, and the E186 TRAXX. In the earlier trailers we also saw a Steam loco, and the Steam store page says : I mean, the rest of the stuff on the store page seems to be accurate, and the devs have not given us a reason not to trust them, so I guess they're just waiting to figure out as to what makes in the final cut possibly.

Hold up, are you telling me there is no actual ceiling lights in those dispatching booths?

Okay, I was doing a full line run and figured it out. It looks like it's LOD1 that's missing. When you actually get out of the cab and enter the field, the wheat directly by you draws, then there is a section where it doesn't, then it does again. So, if LOD index starts at 0, LOD0 actually draws, then a latter one LOD1/2 doesn't (unless you zoom in with mouse??), and then the following ones do. I figured the video should help SR figure this out. Video is in 2K quality, but it's still converting on YT.

Less busier servers, and it depends on the type of services. The S1/S41 services run for about an hour. Some cargo services run for close to an hour to, some up to hour and 40 minutes I've seen. If you want the length of the entire route, you have to run the "EC" service. It's a 9 car passenger train (IRC, might be 11). Those run the full length of the route and then some. Your scenario will end amidst driving when you reach the end of the Playtest playable area.

Well, I'm hoping they solve this the intelligent way. They already mentioned somewhere else on the forums (may have been in Polish Suggestions) that they will be bringing back a way to activate the Autopilot once a user disables it (the autopilot that drives loco when you load in). If this will be the case, the way to deal with disruptive/AFK/whatever people would be just to force an AI takeover that corrects their course or sends them on their way. IE - player AFK/not moving for 3/5/X minutes, automatically enable autopilot. I think this would be the best way, especially when harsher actions can be avoided, such as kicking a player from a server. Another alternative would be to essentially "ghost" the vehicle. Make it barely visible, 0 collision, essentially as if it didn't exist, but this might cause problems when the person goes back. I think the Autopilot would be the simplest solution especially since it's already working, would just need some code to activate it. In regards to playing online and wonkiness, like Sean mentioned, the best time to play is right after a restart. They restart every 3 hours, starting at 12PM EST (So 12pm, 3pm, 6pm, 9pm, 12am, etc). They restart consecutively, one after the other, so it starts on the hour, and by the time all the servers are restarted it can be up to ~30 minutes past the hour. So I tend to go play at like IE - 12:50pm. This rule works for servers dispatched by humans. On the drivers only servers, this makes considerably less difference.

I'm starting to think that some of the very recent issues stem from the fact that the servers aren't removing trains as they should. I mean, I am speculating a bit, but basing it on the fact that the other night I derailed a train, and not only did it not end the scenario, but also, my train wasn't removed. Having said that, I agree that there are some issues, but to me most of them stem from the fact that someone is always trying to do something weird. Also, it is a Playtest that is being ACTIVELY worked on and there are server restarts every 3 hours (best to play right after restart on the servers with the dispatchers). So yeah, there might be some connection issues. I just see people judging the game too harshly based on what little they know from running a test build.

Pffft. Szczerzę to ci trochę współczuje, bo to samotne życie mieć taki charakter.

Cough * TSW * cough... That's a nice concept. I reckon something like that would need some Arduino controller(s) as a backend for interfacing with your PC (if you would want everything to work mechanically the way you designed it). I was doing some research on something like the above a while back. Wanted to see how difficult it would be to put together.

Message duplication and delivery loss

I think you should start a new thread with this, although something leads me to believe SR is aware. -
Nice. The only thing I would recommend is changing the HTML page title to anything but Document, as that's what it gets saved by in your favorites (and obviously displays as the title of the page). Change: <html> <head> <title>Document</title> </head> <body> .... To something like: <html> <head> <title>SimRail Network Map</title> </head> <body> .... Other than that, excellent job. At least I can figure out how far along my trip I am now.

Just a side note, yeah, so whenever playing online, and a fellow driver switches to exterior view, his character is removed from the locomotive. You don't see people floating in the air above their trains, but I'm assuming that's because they're hiding the player model.

So this is post the 18.12.22 update. I was driving yesterday night, super distracted, alt-tabbing and whatnot, and I failed to notice a speed limit drop to 40 km/h. As soon, as I got into the 40 zone (start of a yard), my train went over a switch and it felt like it hopped off the tracks, which is fine cause I was doing a 120 in a 40 zone. I apologize for the dark screenshots, but unfortunately it was nighttime. Now, I have accidentally crashed before. As soon as I did, the server terminated my scenario and essentially booted me to the main menu. I can only assume that following that, my locomotive was deleted in the server. Yesterday? Nothing. No boot from server, no loco deletion. I had to hit Esc, and select "Return to the Menu" to back out of the game.
