Server Restart Times Changed?

EN1 didn't restart at 12:05 BST like it normally does. I was disappointed as I was hoping to go quickly make a sandwich and then resume my drive 🥪

maybe a test is being run to see how long the servers can go without a restart? 

We started out with restarts every 3 to 4 hours right at the beginning (IIRC)  and slowly moved up to longer and longer restart times as things got better and total lockups of the line reduced.

I'd imagine that eventually server restarts would be done only when something has really screwed up the system and deadlocked it,

Is even that necessary? Surely a deadlock can be solved via another means. For example, two trains are on a same track in opposite directions (which is how most deadlocks happen), why not just remove those two trains from the map (the same way as when a train derails) instead of restarting the entire server? The same solution can be applied to other deadlock situations - just remove the trains that are causing it. Then we could only have some kind of a technical restart once a day, perhaps even less frequent.
