Der Ackervogel Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 Hello! I would suggest more quiet rain sounds and better ones. When its raining and I am in the Dispatcher House, the rain gets a bit pitched down but still it sounds like I am outside. Greetings, Felix. 1
SIMRAIL Team Sui Posted December 22, 2022 SIMRAIL Team Posted December 22, 2022 I agree. The system I have written was originally only supposed to be used under sheds and not for interiors as well - I will be expanding it sometime at the beginning of next year to lower sound volume and maybe do some other sound modulation. Other matter is that the choice of sounds is not the best. I am especially annoyed by the sound - of what probably would be - droplets hitting a flat water surface - something should should never even be able to hear during rain. 9
SurvivorSean Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 Well you may not have the rain right yet, but your sounds of the trains over the junctions sounds very authentic. One of the first things I noticed since day 1. Thanks Sean 2
Gazz292 Posted December 22, 2022 Posted December 22, 2022 take a long freight train over a junction, and go to the outside camera, lots n lots of lovely squealing flanges from each wagon as their wheels go over the points, that i'm sure are different to the loco's flange squeel sounds, and that bounce you get when going over a junction in the loco, simply amazing. 3

Blacky Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 The overall sound design of this sim is amazing indeed. Hearing these traction blowers and engines in the EU07 is great too. They've really done a great job there. 1
giBBer8 Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 (edited) To me as a driver of 30 years, only obviously bad sound is the level crossing sounds from the cab. I appreciate the doppler effect you included, but from a loco cab, the sound is a second at 100 kmh, and about 2 seconds "either side of the doppler effect" at 60 km/h, with the loudest and most correct in the mid-point of course. Gazz292 Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 yes i agree, we hear the warning sirens / gongs for a bit too long. I wonder if Polish railways are different to other european ones regarding level crossings. i live within earshot of a uk level crossing, and the siren / warbler only sounds before and during the barriers closing phase. Once the barriers are fully closed, the siren / warbler stops... the warning light continue until the barriers are almost back to normal upright positions after the trains passed. I parked a camper van i used to have near a Swiss level crossing for the Berner Oberland Bahn for a few nights many years ago, and still remember fondly the cow bell like sounds as the barriers were being lowered (tong...tong...tong...tong) But even they only sounded until the barriers had fully lowered, so the crossing was silent as the train passed it. Do the warning sirens / gongs sound constantly in Poland even when the barriers are down and the crossing secured? If they do, is this part of the reason you no longer need to sound the train horn before all crossings, and only ones with the double warning boards?
SurvivorSean Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 In North America depending on the railroad the bells will stop after the gates are down but many actually do continue to ring (the dopler effect is good but I imagine as a passenger in a closed window that you wouldn't hear them until you were very close with the dopler already mentioned). Many of the crossing have no sounds in the sim. I was checking out a train at SG and I noticed the flashing lights turn off just as the gate was starting to raise. In North America all lights remain on until the gates are in the upright position. Thanks Sean
robert357 - W7 FTW Posted December 25, 2022 Posted December 25, 2022 In Poland bells rings until front of the train pass near the crossing. Lights will flash until barriers are in open position. I think the same is with manual crossings, but I'm not sure.

Some older ones works using "classic isolated track", so in that case bells (and whole crossing) stop, when whole train is gone. But this is small fraction of % by now 😉 Edited December 26, 2022 by AtapiCl
