Crossing management

Hi to everyone!

I noticed that in one of the stations in the Łódź DLC, it's possible to set up routes that include level crossings (at least some months ago), automatically triggering their closure without having to do it manually. Then, once the train clears them, the level crossing opens back up on its own.

I think it would be an interesting feature to implement in other stations with level crossings as well, especially when only a single train is passing through that section. This way, you just set the route and the simulator handles the opening and closing of the level crossing automatically (which would be very useful in large stations like Skn).

Additionally, for stations equipped with domino control panels, it would be nice to have a more direct control for level crossings, avoiding the need to use the CCTV monitor.

You are probably mixing "line crossings" (automatically closed) and "station crossings" (manually closed). That's how it works IRL.

Moreover, IIRC, in Poland you can't set route from main signal to open crossing.

I agree with you, automatic crossings are very convenient. That's how it works in CZ, you can try it in SOFTIKON

Die Bahnübergänge werden so angesteuert, wie es in der Realität zum dargestellten Zeitpunkt war. Sprich, es gibt einige Bahnhöfe, wo diese automatisch schließen (i.d.R. mit Einlegen der Fahrstraße) und öffnen (mit (Teil-)Auflösung der Fahrstraße); bei anderen Bahnhöfen wiederum, muss man es selbst machen.

The level crossings are controlled in the same way as they were in reality at the time depicted. In other words, there are some stations where they close automatically (usually when a route is set) and open automatically (when the route is (partially) released) ; at other stations, however, you have to do this yourself.

Viele Bahnübergänge auf der freien Strecke sind auch manuell gesteuert, allerdings nicht durch ein Stellwerk, sondern einen KI-gesteuerten Bahnübergangs-Mitarbeiter.

Many line crossings are also controlled manually, though not by a signal box, but by an AI-controlled level crossing attendant.
