Pospec76502 Posted April 25 Posted April 25 (edited) Latest update came with changed UI when you enter train number. Now there is a list of nearby trains accompanied with "Type number manually switch". The switch is "off" by default each time you are about to make a call. Can the switch stay in last selected position to give us the old manual input, please? Train list is actually disturbing for me because I have already memorized the number before picking up the phone. It's easy to forget the number when you scroll through a list of trains with similar numbers. Moreover, some of us (for example me) can write very fast, at least on numeric pad 🙂 Edited April 25 by Pospec76502 1 21
jayzhead Posted April 27 Posted April 27 (edited) I was just about to make a topic about this. It is quite annoying that the supposedly improved report box now requires an extra click to type the number in every time - is really should remember the selection, at least for the current session, even better if it was global. The drop-down list is really cumbersome, it's much faster to punch in the number manually then it is to sift through a list of random trains that just happen to be nearby. If at least the train currently closest to the dispatcher would be on top, like it is in the HUD, it would be somewhat useful - but even then, the switch should remember it's position Edited April 27 by jayzhead 2

Those are trains that are departing from your station. Once you memorize what number is where it is actually quicker to pick it from the list. I was thinking the same thing as you guys but once I got used to it it made it faster for me. Have a good one.

I know these are trains that are departing from my station, but for all intents and purposes they are in a random order in relation to their distance from the station (or rather, just a downstacking order by number, which means the freight trains are always on top). That is not convenient, as the moment you actually want to communicate a departing train is when it is either passing you or leaving a platform, which usually makes it closest. Anyway, it is beside the point regardless - even if they were in the right order, I'd still prefer to manually type it in - it's just faster on the keypad then sifting through a drop down menu, and it helps with keeping the number in mind when you then have to go into the timetable and mark the departure. That switch should default to wherever we left it last. That way whoever prefers to go through the drop down menu can just not switch it on. I don't see a downside here. 5
the810 Posted April 28 Posted April 28 I mean, the biggest flaw of this design is that it's in the reverse order - the highest number first. The other issue I have is that you can't search the list. I'm fine with the list as long as I can start typing train number and will filter these trains. E.g. I would start typing 23 and it would only show trains starting with 23.... 5
