Inspiration from IVAO flight simulators and divisions

Hello

I'm going with a little inspiration that could be implemented at SimRail.

A lot of players want to ride by real basics, how about trying to allow them to do that?

How about trying to take inspiration from a flight simulator where they have their IVAO division.

A demonstration of how it could work in Sim Rail:

1.

Divide the servers into Amateur and Professional
e.g.
CZ 1 - Amateur
CZ 2 - Professional (paid by division)

CZ 1 - would be for all players who don't want to drive according to the real rules, but just to ride occasionally.

CZ 2 - would be only for professional players, who would have passed the tests in a certain division and could join this server only under a password. this could be handled by a nickname and password for example.

as I already wrote, the CZ2 server would be paid only.

2.

Every train dispatcher or driver would have to pass certain tests to have access to this server.
The tests would be conducted with an experienced instructor.

3.

Divisions would be 2:
One for the dispatcher
One for the engineer

4.

All rules of play on the server would be determined by the division.

I'm sure it would also contribute to better SR testing and help the authors with simulator development.

I have listed the CZ servers only as an example.

It would definitely bring a different style of play.

Howky 🙂

I like the concept of having servers with relaxed rules (and possibly reduced functionality) for new players vs. ones with stricter rules (and possibly more functionality – shunting or mechanical interlockings maybe?) for experienced ones. In a way, the game already does this – you have to play one singleplayer tutorial to be allowed on multiplayer servers, and you have to play easier signal boxes for some time before you’re gradually allowed on more demanding ones. Though of course, the game doesn’t really test players on that (not yet at least) so unfortunately there’s still absolute noobs at Zawiercie every so often. Personally, I’d like it if there were a scoring system with levels for dispatcher mode as well as for train driver mode.

I don’t think it’d make much sense to have ‘pro’ servers cost extra money. What would be the point? You’re already paying for the game.

Also, there’s no need for special nicknames and passwords to access servers when the game is already using Steam accounts for the existing multiplayer functionality.

There are many games where we can purchase a so-called custom server. Since I've asked a few people in my circle, they wouldn't mind paying for a troll-free server. And where the riding will be more realistic 🙂 but of course it's a topic for discussion 🙂

And the other thing is that the server has to be running somewhere, and these repositories are paid 🙂

To be honest, I haven't come across any 'trolls' for weeks, on any En server.

Having 'pro' servers is very elitist. How do you grade those who are allowed to touch the hallowed controls within? Professional railway people only?

The envisaged mayhem on multiplayer hasn't happened, everyone seems genuinely invested into the Simrail package, yes people make mistakes, we all do.

'Pro' servers simply aren't needed, the last thing I want to see is the small community split off into little cliques, no thanks.

i must drive at different times to others,  as i too have not encountered many trolls,

the occasional bottle necked area, but people who know signalling usually jump in and sort it out, i see that as just another day as a train driver, i pretend there was a signalling failure in the area that's being fixed... as happens in real life.

It's all part of what makes SimRail different, i've never had a multiplayer run the same as another due to the human element, train in front driving slowly, me being too early and having to wait for other trains to cross my path, the occasional misroute by someone learning a signal box, dispatchers role playing and having a track closed due to an emergency and routing over a single line,   ,   ,    even the Ai dispatcher gives me Sz signals occasionally (40/20Km/h until the next working signal)

:

Bod it'd be boring as hell if every run was perfect, not a single light against me, not a single hold up due to a mistake of a dispatcher, knowing exactly who will be in each signal box... 'hello fred, hows things in your area?'  ''running perfect as always mate'' .... 10 Km later...  'hello joe, hows things?   ''same as ever, nothing changes because we are all 'profesional' here remember''

it'd be very....tsw like, may as well play in single player if that's the kind of driving you like.

Agreed @Gazz292

To answer the OP's thread, IVAO and VATSIM are indeed akin to signaling a railway, in so far as to keep the vessels apart. That's where it ends!

The IVAO equivalent is what we have now in MP, Zawiercie controls a section, hands it off to Lazy...15 km away....no comparison.

That does not need a 'pro' server for a train simulation!
