Some more suggestions

Dear SimRail Community and Team,

after 15 hours of playtime i'd like to sum up my ideas and wishes for the probably best game of the genere.

  1. Multiplayer Editor: My wish is to (re)create a whole network of rail. But the only way to get there is support of the community to build. "Build there own dream add-ons" was sayn in the developers interview, so is it possible to implement this ?
  2. Varied vegetation: More vegetation variety could create a look/feeling more naturally while driving. Especially fields look kinda weird in the distance. (Because of the Early Access i assume you're already working on this? I hope so...)
  3. Map/Custom scenarios: A more moderny way to choose a route or scenario is a map. Here you could select a Start/End point and also the Train (and composition). Combined with the AI-trains, random events (and of cause more routs) this could/will cause more long therm fun and improves orientation.
  4. Arduino support/ Serial Interface: Kind of API's for enthusiasts like me, who wants to build her own driver's desk. I thought about a serial interface to communicate with Arduino (or other) wich could handle any input or outputs of the deck. This would open up many possibilities. If you look at a typical (german) drivers cabin you will know what I mean.  Here are some ideas for data to exchange:
  • speed
  • driving lever(+-)
  • traction (+-)
  • breaking lever
  • distance to next signalbox/station (for german LZB like replica 😉)
  • freely assignable switches (light, horn, etc.)

Thank you all for your opinions and comments.

indeed a serial communication for arduino would be very good.  I look forward to this in order to make the simulation more realistic and intuitive.

I already posted a disappointed topic but no response from the development team.

Especially since it should not be complicated to do for them a developer.

In serial or TCP, it would be nice to be able to receive the following information from the game

·         Train speed

·         Brake status in %

·         Train number

·         Next Signal Statu

·         Next Stop Station

·         Destination of the train

·         Traction manipulator status

·         State of the doors

·         Return of the speed limiter

and other information of course 🙂

On the 13th of January 2023 SimRail released as early access,

As it says every time you start the simulator up, this is a testing and bug fixing period of upto 6 months, things are deliberately being kept simple during this time to help bug find.
Hence the timetables are basic and repeat every 4 hours or so, a lot of features are turned off, we are driving in summer season only and so on.

joystick / raildriver control will be added later on, and so will TCP outputs for connecting up things like arduino's, STM boards and so on, the TCP stuff is already present if you look in the SimRail files, it's just not activated yet. and asking for them just 3 weeks after early access release by posting 'disappointed' threads isn't exactly helping things, the dev's are not going to drop everything and work on advanced features when the base simulator still needs work.
