Orsewin
Is it possible to get key shortcuts to the Speed O meter buttons? Like 1=100 km/h 2=120 km/h and so on? I hope you know what i mean?
SIMRAIL Team GoppelPL Posted January 18, 2023 SIMRAIL Team Share Posted January 18, 2023 Do you mean key bindings for cruise control speed selection buttons? 🙂

SIMRAIL Team GoppelPL Posted January 18, 2023 SIMRAIL Team Share Posted January 18, 2023 The suggestion is open. Currently we have very limited key binding system (as you know you can only have a button to enable or disable functions, not both), and I certainly hope it will be tweaked in the future, and more key bindings will be available in the future. Orsewin
I need only the Keybindings for the Speed not to activate/disable. When you select 0 the Train stops already, thats why i dont need to activitae disable it.
Gazz292
i don't know about PKP, but using the cruise control 0 button to stop the train would get you sacked on most other railways, On the German railways the drivers do not even use the AFB lever to slow down to a lower speed (say 120 to 100 km/h) because it does so in such a harsh way the passengers would be complaining about the rough ride they are getting, So the drivers turn AFB off and slow down gently using the electric brake and the seat of their pants feel to slow down in a way the passengers won't notice, then set the AFB lever to the new lower speed which they are now traveling at and re-enable it. Schyrsivochter
AFB on locomotives also adds a bit of train brake to the electric brake if the decrease is large and/or the train is heavy, but it also doesn’t know that after pressure is back at 5 bar you have to wait till the brakes on the entire train are released before switching traction force back up, leading to wasted energy and unnecessary stress on the couplings. SIMRAIL Team Stele Posted January 20, 2023 SIMRAIL Team Share Posted January 20, 2023 Driving elf with just cruise control is legit in most companies from what I heard. You can tweak power used with OPT button, to make it gentler.
Gazz292
so using the cruise control buttons to speed up and slow down and stop the train in the platforms is allowed!   why bother with the control handle at all if you can just press '0' when you want to stop at a station, and say '120' when you want to leave the station.

Well, you need to use the control handle to start the train. You have to hold it until the train has reached a certain speed. I guess that is fore safety. On the TRAXX you should NOT use the cruise control as it is easy to instead of stepping down, disable the cruise control. If you then have the control handle at full throttle well, then you might end up derailing in Zabkowice. Allegedly I have done that.

Gazz292
as keeps being mentioned, there's some reason why modifier keys and toggle keys can't work in SimRail at the moment, This is something that needs sorting, but right now the devs are working on getting the simulator stable and fixing bugs.
