BigVern Posted Monday at 04:44 PM Posted Monday at 04:44 PM Not sure if this is addressed with the forthcoming updates and the Lodz route, but aside from the few scenarios in SP (which are slightly too long to finish without being able to save) the steam loco needs some more scenarios in SP and to start making an appearance in MP, too. Maybe as a Railtour or special train. I appreciate there is more potential for players to mess up with the steam than driving electric but that would be part of the fun and emergent gameplay. If need be, access to the steam loco in MP could be subject to reaching a certain level - say 50 for example. 1 1
Gazz292 Posted Tuesday at 04:30 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:30 PM for SP, when the scenario editor gets released then i imagine lots of scenarios will be made by people, The problem with running the steam loco in MP is it's so slow compared to modern traffic, it's Vmax is 80 kmh, but i read that IRL that is for a limited time before it gets damaged, Now if we had the 1980's map in MP, then things could work as there would have been steam loco's still in use on regular services, and the top speeds were lower. 1
CoraVanLincolnius Posted Wednesday at 09:49 AM Posted Wednesday at 09:49 AM (edited) TLDR: Timetable is close to capacity of our railwaylines in SimRail While i agree with you currently the timetable simply does not allow for a vmax 80 service on top of it. We are simply at/over the capacity of what we have ingame. There are a couple of stretches where there is indeed some capacity left over but the CMK absolutely cannot handle another train running over it. These new cargo services (talking about 4220XX/2420XX/1420XX/4121XX) had to be timetabled at 100 minimum to remotely fit in the timetable. While sometimes i agree there would be a gap to squeeze the Ty2 into on MP more often than not dispatchers would delay it because of a pendolino or EC coming up behind it. So yes i agree it would be lovely to see the steam engine on MP as a railtour type of thing there is simply no capacity anywhere to run it. Reminder the timetable over at Grodzisk-Warszaw is changing tonight as the new DLC drops aswell and grodzisk will see 27tph at times. While theoreticly that could work. Lets not forget about that more often than not the trains coming off the CMK are running with some stupid delay causing delay to trains from Lk1 there. So yeah. I dont think there is any room in the timetable to fit the Ty2 in. Edited Wednesday at 09:50 AM by CoraVanLincolnius 1
BigVern Posted 12 hours ago Author Posted 12 hours ago Yes I can see the logistics challenge. What the loco really needs is a nice little branch or even heritage (preserved) railway DLC where you can just run steam specials exclusively up and down all day. 1
