  1. A pleasant night drive in the rain ☺️
  2. Yes, the dim switch is on by default (dim pos.) but the lights are bright. So you have to turn off the dim switch, then back on to dim the lights. Or you can switch off the headlight itself and then back on.
  3. I turned off the grass and got at least 10+ FPS from that (and in my opinion, it looks better without it) Other than that everything is more or less set to max and it runs quite smoothly in the range between 50 and 60FPS. I have a rather old setup with I7-8086k 4Ghz, 32GB RAM, and 1080ti. Currently running in window mode, and I expect to see an FPS drop if I try to run at full resolution (5k monitor)
  4. According to the roadmap, the full version is going to be released on January 13th. Haven't heard anything about early access. Single-player test on December 21st.
  5. Good questions and I can't give any answers to them, but I have collected some posts from the devs on Discord that might give some pointers on how this would be. If this is the case the "editors" will be in Unity with plug-ins made by SimRail. So it won't look like the in-game editor we know from both TS and Trainz. If they stick to this plan I recommend downloading Unity and start exploring the engine. It might be a bit more complicated than many people are used to, but on the other hand most likely more flexible. Time will tell, I hope we soon get some more information from the devs regarding this topic. Unity supports fbx, obj, blend, etc., and most image formats. Importing stuff should be a lot easier than we are used to comparing with TS and Trainz.
  6. So basically AI trains run with bright light, and disabling the autopilot doesn't set it to dim (it bypasses the dim switch) Not a big bug then, especially not after I found that dim switch 🙂
  7. If you turn off the headlight on the EU07 locomotive, which is on by default, it doesn't get the same brightness when you turn it on again. On the left is the default light, and on the right is the light after switching it on again. I assume there are no dim/bright switches that I don't know about 🙂
  8. It needs to be the "power of two" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_of_two
  9. Initial is good in some situations but often you need a bit more unless you want a long braking distance. I'm not familiar with the braking system on these locos but I guess you get around ~0,7 bar cylinder pressure in the first step. It was first yesterday that I learned you could gradually apply the brakes with the mouse, I also believed that there was only initial and full service by using the mouse. So now I have a bit more control. But I'm not a big fan of using the mouse while playing any simulators so that's why I want to be able to use the keys to apply brakes in a more controlled way. I'm sure the devs will find a solution for this.
  10. In TS you can toggle wagon numbers on/off above the train with the F7 key. A similar function would be nice to have that also can display other details such as username and destination.
  11. The very first reply to this topic maybe? "I'm kind of fine with the keyboard controls. Initial if I want to slow down gently, full if need to slow down sharpish. I can get by with that just fine. " 🙂
  12. Of course you don't have any problems stopping at stations or signals if you use full service brake all the time 🙂 Cab gauges are hard to see in-game, so I agree with having a HUD displaying important information like positions of the different controls. HUD should be customizable so that people who don't want it can turn it of. Right now brake force is displayed in the bottom right corner HUD, but there is a delay when applying the brake so you can't be sure what position the brake handle is in.
  13. I second that. Currently, it looks like you are driving toward an empty space. Being able to see mountains and hills will be important in other areas.
  14. Full service brake is quite extreme and is rarely used by train drivers in normal operation. On the other hand, initial is a very low brake application that requires you to start braking very early. I hope they find a solution to have gradual application. We could just let num 3 gradually run through the brake positions before it reaches full service brake and that it lap when the key is released. Or we could have it like this? -off -fill -running -initial -gradually apply with num 6, lap when the key is released. -full service -emergency Using num 9 to gradually release and go back again to the initial position.
