If a slower service has a pt stop that is timetabled to let a pendo pass, if that pendo is not yet in the immediate section prior to the AI controlled station, it just flags the slower service through, often condemning the pendo to hang behind a freight train for a ~25km section.

It seems that they're working on fixing this because I had the opposite issue today.

I was dispatching in Idzikowice where I had a southbound EC with pt to be overtaken by two Pendolinos. One of them was very late so I calculated that if I let EC depart early (after the ontime Pendolino), it will be in Olszamowice some 4 minutes before the delayed Pendolino. Win-win, no need to cause delay for EC, while at the same time it won't disrupt Pendo in any way. I dispatched it towards Opoczno which was controlled by an AI.. and the AI has decided to stop the EC there and wait for the Pendolino that was still somewhere up the line. So it's definitely not only looking at the neighbouring section in its logic.

  2. Another version of the map = another server. And the existing ones aren't exactly full. Besides that, it doesn't make sense to have different parts of the map from different eras so updating one station would mean updating everything, for not much benefit.

Also, we'd lose Opoczno as a very fun station to play. Having only one platform is what makes it challenging (and that's probably why they added another one IRL :)).

  3. I have tried to send 412038 on the left track from Idzikowice to Radzice today (it was more convenient given the situation in my station, and since there's no train in the opposite direction for hours, I figured it doesn't matter) but got the error message that I'm sending it in the wrong direction. Is this intentional, or is it a bug?

  4. The camera issue needs to be fixed, and quick. Being stuck for 10-20 seconds while the camera image renders (and then again when going back to the box view) is just not acceptable when dealing with a high-paced situation.

Another solution that could work would be rendering camera images in lower quality - resolution, FPS, etc. I assume the real life signal boxes don't have 4K 120fps image from cameras either 🙂 This would make the loading times shorter.

I agree theire where not enough Dutch speaking players around to justify running an Dutch server.

And Dutch players generally don't have a problem with English. This is more of a factor than the number of players itself. English-speaking people will generally gravitate towards EN servers which tend to be more busy, unless the local server gets enough players to be somewhat comparable. We've seen this at CZ1 when it started to die a bit and it went into a downward spiral with more and more players escaping to EN1, thus leaving CZ1 even more empty.

  6. I'd really love Prague to Česká Třebová simulated, it's an extremely busy route and would be fun to dispatch on. Of course an extension to Brno would be nice too with the valley section. I'm not too keen on Ostrava but that way it could eventually connect to Krakow/Katowice.

Beyond corridors, there are also many cute local railways connecting to the route above, so adding one or two of them would make the game varied.

So if the Czech players don't use their server, we can shut it down to spare a bit money for the developers. You said, that it is practically empty, if it is not used, why need to running it?

Well, there indeed is a fear of it being shut down eventually within the community and some players are encouraging others to not play on EN1 and "support" CZ1 instead. Personally, I don't care, I play wherever it's more fun. I'm not sure how that's relevant here. Yes, if CZ1 traffic dropped to the levels of the former HU1, it would most likely be closed.

The main point of my message is that HU1 has been tried before and it didn't work, so you must expect certain caution from developers.

  8. Hungarian server has been tried before and it didn't really take off. As our experience from CZ server points out, just because you have many players from a certain country doesn't mean that its language server will be successful. Many people from CZ/SK, myself included, prefer EN1 over CZ1, because EN1 is much more busy, so it's more fun to play there. As a result, Czech server is mostly empty despite many Czech/Slovak players in the game.

Running a server costs money, so I imagine that until there's a clear indication that reintroducing HU1 would be succesful, devs aren't too likely to do it.

I must agree that sim-wise it would be great having controls on the panel but for the sake of the simulation, not having them on sight makes CCTV essential to avoid leaving a dumb driver stuck on the rails. Cars in the sim behaves but not the mofos you find in real life.

My understanding is that in real life you don't need to (or even can) use monitors to operate the crossings, but you can use external buttons. So what I'm suggesting would make it more realistic :)

Hello, in real life there is CCTV system similiar to one we are using in SR. In most cases there are additional devices outside domino panel to control level crossings. When level crossing is operated by flagman he gets notifications about trains from dispatcher via Phone.

Any chance we might get those additional devices in the game? Controlling crossings via the CCTV screen is cool, but it takes a second or two before the picture renders, which can be crucial when things get heated and you have a lot of trains to deal with.

(For now I just keep crossings closed at all times, but that's not how it should be.)

ok than I think its a little different to germany. On egional and regional express trains the train driver looked out of the window for departure. And on Inter city trains the conductor gets out and gives the train driver a signal who also looked out of the window. At least thats what I noticed but to be honest Im not a train driver in real life 😁

Same in Slovakia or Czechia (and a bunch of other railways). Drivers still look out of the window a) for safety reasons, b) to receive the dispatch signal from the conductor (the latter is not relevant in Poland where the dispatch signal is given via radio, but that's not the case in most of Europe).

I appreciate that this is the way it's done in Poland and the simulation is realistic in this regard, but it's something to keep the mind on when expanding further outside Poland.

That's because when you're sitting to the right, you wouldn't be able to lean out of the left window. The same thing goes with the ET25, which has the openable windows so far away from the driver's seat, you would have to get up and move closer to the window to lean out of it.

But you can lean out if you stand up (which itself is allowed in SimRail), and many drivers seem to be doing it even on the "wrong side" during the departure (at least in countries neighbouring Poland, I'm not 100% sure if I saw it in PL itself).

Or temporarily enable the bot. 10 seconds should sort it.

That doesn't work for this kind of issues, because when you deactivate the bot, it falls back to whatever setting you had before.

Thanks everyone! I wish there were some troubleshooting manuals 🙂

is that platform used in real life?  i.e. in 2018 did that platform get regular use?

if not, then just as real life, do not route a stopping train to that platform.

I believe it's used as a backup, i.e. no trains are scheduled to stop there, but it is kept operational and available for dispatchers to use.

I certainly have no issue buying DLC for Simrail but obviously that could create issues in the MP environment particularly once more locos and rolling stock come out or if the route gets extended and/or new routes added. How do those who don't have that content fit into the MP paradigm (though of course hopefully by that time we will have a much improved SP game along with the save or checkpoint feature)?

People often ask this question but I don't really see why it would be a problem. You could only play trains which you have purchased (or which are included in the base game). The rest would still appear, you just couldn't drive it.

But I'm also curious about the whole business plan behind the game. Vehicle DLCs can somehow help keep the flow of money to run servers, but only to a point where you have so many types that you need to add more trains too. Maps DLCs don't solve anything because new map = new server, so even if it brings some money, it will also increase costs in the long term.

And then there will be some players who will only buy one game, or one DLC and nothing more (e.g. people who only play their "home routes" - many Poles won't bother buying lines in Czechia). These people will keep generating costs forever, but will never bring more money. And the overal group of players who are like this will probably keep going up over the time.

While I understand that pay-to-play model isn't popular, I think it's the only viable solution in the long term.

  16. One thing I would like to be more realistic is the dispatch signal. In SimRail, you just get the timer come down to zero and off you go. This is both unrealistic and frankly a bit boring, since you know when exactly will it be the time to depart (while in real life this is influence by number of factors).

Interestingly, in singleplayer you get a radio call from the simulated conductor, telling you to depart. I'd love this implemented in multiplayer as well. However, it should also be noted that this will become much harder to do when the game expands to other states, since dispatch via radio is very rare in Europe. In Czechia it's normally done via hand signals, so they would need to make bots that would simulate that, and the driver would have to look out of the window (which is not even possible today). It works similarly in Germany on long-distance trains, whereas on local trains the driver dispatches the train himself (provided he has a green light of course).

    Hi,
I would like you to introduce my idea, the thing is make trains waiting for each other to "passangers" move from the fast train to regional and on the contrary. It will make the Simulator more realistic. Maybe there should be small changes in the timetables, the trains will wait for eachother in some bigger stations (mostly on the main stations (glowny)). And if the train will have a delay for example 5-15 minutes, the other train should wait to get passangers on. But if it will be some bigger delay on for example EuroCity 15 minutes, the local train can leave without waiting. And connect it with dispechters somehow that they "can not" let the local trian leave. Yea, they could, but they will get minus points for that.
I get this idea from real life, for example if you are travelling with some fast train (EuroCity for example) and you have a connection train for the some village, the connection train should wait.
    I hope I wrote that understandably. 😄
    Thank you, best wishes.

This will become relevant later when the game expands with maps from other countries. Connections generally aren't a thing in Poland, except some rare cases, and they will quite often hapilly dispatch a local train one minute before a long-distance train arrives.

  18. I would very much welcome a single track line in SimRail, that would be fun to play, and much more prone to irregularities (i.e. trains out of sequence), thus providing more work for the dispatchers - so definitely thumbs up for that idea. The question is of course whether devs want to focus on more routes in Poland, or rather on other parts of the world (the latter option is better for players, and provides more commercial potential, but would also be harder to develop due to different rules, equipment, etc.).
