Improved timetables
hoppturee- replied to Angelo's topic in Suggestions for improvements [Multiplayer]
There is a timetable update scheduled before the end of the month which should touch on some of the issues you raised. -

When trying to speak as Zawiercie to Gora Wlodowska, the chat sometimes doesn't send my messages even though the other station is player controlled. I am not sure if another player joined in the meantime, though. SimRail_log_2023-02-04_20-36-24.txt

Being able to run red lights.
hoppturee- replied to treevorezz's topic in Suggestions for improvements [Multiplayer]
In real life, passing a red signal without permission the first time means retraining. The second time you lose your job. Players do not have that kind of responsibility. It would create so much chaos. Red signals can be passed when the dispatcher is using a substitute signal (white light). That would be the equivalent of written permission to pass a red light.- 1 reply

There are some random red lights showing up while driving at night. I must mention I have the signal light enhancement to 200%.

Hello! One of my biggest issue while driving is that I don't have a feel for what brakes I am applying currently. Also, I often find myself applying emergency brakes by mistake. My suggestions would be: Make the brake "notched": instead of holding down the key to apply more brakes, make it so that we need to tap (let go of the key first) to go to the next level (or at least between states, meaning from disabled to fill to running to applied to emergency) Make applying emergency brakes only possible by pressing a different key, not by using the brake key

Those are fair points. It basically boils down to "get lucky joining as dispatcher" vs "joining as dispatcher in an organized (although slower) way". I don't think it will make much difference for less popular dispatcher stations, as people will likely not wait for those. Maybe queueing could be implemented only for dispatcher stations in high demand. Also, we could limit queueing to only 1 station, in order to lower wait times. I think I should mention the problem I wanted to solve with this suggestion: sometimes I want to play dispatcher in a more interesting station while having actual players driving trains around, as dispatching bots is not as much fun. This is an issue on EN servers, as on the European continent only EN1 has a decent number (20+) of players driving. As you can imagine, being able to join as dispatcher on EN1 is really hard. Now, after work I join and wait 5-15 min to find a decent dispatcher station. If I don't find any, I just close the game and probably will not return to it for the day. I'm not sure how common this is, maybe it's only a me problem, but I think it would be convenient to know if I have any chance of joining, as that will greatly increase the chance of me taking the time to actually play. It's basically a casual player request. I think it's a non problem on DE and PL servers, as usually 3-4 of these servers always have 40+ drivers.

Usually I let them pass, with one big exception: when I'm dispatching Zawiercie. There is so much traffic and so much to do that I don't really have time to think about an early freight. I usually ask if it's ok to wait. I prefer to wait when I'm driving those freights, I can take a toilet break. The other bigger issue is that entry in Zawiercie from Lazy La Line 1 is so short, you get very little notice before the next passenger comes. I usually keep the freight on the side lines near Line 4 entry from Lazy La, so as not to block Platform 1. By the time I clear a freight to leave from there, if a late passenger just left Lazy La, the passenger would have already caught up by the time the freight exits Zawiercie. So no, you can wait :).

funny things you saw in SimRail ?
hoppturee- replied to sf_giants15's topic in General Discussion [Multiplayer]
Cars will cross 50m from you at km 10 crossing towards Charsznica while going 60 km/h. That was funny :D. (I didn't manage to capture a picture) -
Hello! At km 10 towards Charsznica cars do not really like to stop when the train comes :D. 2 cars just passed in front of me when I was ~50m from the crossing. As far as I've seen that crossing does not have barriers. I know Polish people are in a hurry, but still :D. (screenshot is right after the crossing, I didn't manage to capture the cars crossing)

TAA was fine for me until the latest patch, now it started shivering a lot more. I will try to get video of it. SMAA and FXAA do not have this issue.

The image is not fluid having high FPS
hoppturee- replied to alvarossbcn's topic in General Discussion [Multiplayer]
I am also having this issue with a 5950X and 3090, although at 75-90 FPS. The image just doesn't look fluid (screen is 60Hz). -
I think a nice feature would be a queue system where you can wait to join one of the selected dispatcher stations whenever one becomes available to play. Maybe this system could also have a popup every 3 minutes to check if you're still available so you don't just pointlessly occupy the queue. When the station becomes available a sound goes off and you have 15 seconds to join, otherwise you lose the position. You could also think of another system to complement this one, where if you play one of the less popular dispatcher stations for some time (30-60 min) before you join the queue you get (some) priority on joining the more interesting/hard ones.

Events that maked from Player dispatchers
hoppturee- replied to Fightdrug's topic in General Discussion [Multiplayer]
If it helps, we had a situation yesterday on EN1 where Po wouldn't release for multiple stations (bug), so we used Sz extensively :D.
