change cabin while shunting =?

Recommended Posts

not really in topic because of the missing shunting operations but i was thinking on my walk how it will be when you need to change the cabin 🤔

i mean do we need to disable firstly the one cabin and actived the other or is it enough to let one actived 🤔 specialy looking at the EU07/EP08 here

IRL you'd need to turn everything off, empty the brake pipe, set the brake handle in the neutral position, set the headlights as needed, remove the master key; go in the other cab, insert the master key, turn everything back on, turn the headlights as needed.

I guess they would rather stick the head out of the window and reverse then doing all that😅

the problem is you dont really know what shunting signals are yours by looking back ;D

One can only do that if there's a shunter (or shunting leader) on the other end of the loco/train
Our directives say that for the sake of observing signals, the driver must be in the front cab regarding the direction of movement.

As for cab switching, it's exactly the same here as Angelo described.

I guess the siódemka's master key is also removable from the dashboard and you have to bring it to the other cab but for ease of gameplay, devs didn't make it removable

With our locos we have to lock the train brake lever in neutral position, take the key, remove master key, remove independent brake lever, remove radio handset and then bring all these to the other cab to be able to turn the thing on again and get moving

i think in germany you are allowed to drive backwards but just 10 kmh and just behind the next signal 🤔 but not sure my dispatcher knowlage is a bit 80s

It may be allowed in different countries but it's forbidden here unless there's a shunting leader on the other end observing signals and forwarding them to the driver in the rear

Also an accident happened cause of it not long ago. Driver thought he won't switch cabs in a stadler flirt so he drove backwards while shunting alone
Yea and he didn't notice the switches not set correctly and damaged them
Then he tried driving forward and absolutely wrecked the switches, derailing and damaging the flirt too heh

no. No vehicle movement without someone at the front of the train.

We also have a key for the brake (it looks more like a lever). You can see it in the ED250, since it's an Italian train.

I forgot: put the reverser in neutral, remove it and bring it with you in the other cab.

Yes, on the EU07 (and other similar stock) the reverser can be removed, and it's also used to access the high voltage compartments. I wonder if we'll get to use it this way on the ET22, when it will come in SimRail.
