sebb Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 Hi! I'm trying to run this game on Linux through Proton and I'm facing the following issue: In every tutorial and singleplayer I've tried so far, the signals won't turn green allowing me to drive. After calling the dispatcher, nothing happens. I tried it on my Windows laptop as well, there it works perfectly. Different Proton versions, different file systems, didn't help unfortunately. I hope that there is a solution to that, otherwise I will have to return the game 😞 Cheers
SugaCane Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 I don't think the developers will support Linux as it is not listed here.
Urgentemente Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 Linux isn't officially support, however, I have dual boot system that spends 90% of it's life booted in linux (currently running CachyOS Arch based distro..) and I've run SimRail many times since the playtest under Steam/Proton. Whilst graphics performance isn't as good as when I run it under windows, the gameplay seems to be all OK..  Can't promise anything, but what distro are you using, graphics card, CPU etc, maybe we can compare. Oh, and of course, what version of SimRail. Â
sebb Posted December 25, 2023 Author Posted December 25, 2023 Hi all, thanks for the replies. I am aware that Linux isn't officially supported, but on the other hand I'm running TSC and TSW3 on Linux without problems (or at least I was able to solve them all). I decided to give up some space on my SSD for a Windows partition to run SimRail - it's just too good to not play it because it doesn't run on the OS of my choice 😉 I was using the latest version of SimRail on EndeavourOS, and Arch based rolling distro, with the latest kernel and NVIDIA drivers. CPU is a Ryzen 5 5600X, GPU GTX 1660 Super. Eventually I will give it one more try and see how it works in multiplayer or dispatcher mode. Cheers, sebb
