Fibou Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 (edited) Would it be possible to modify the level crossing closing by adding a certain time before the barriers are lowered, as in reality? The level crossing warning lights are on for a certain time before the crossing is closed to give vehicles and pedestrians time to leave the crossing safety. Thanks 🙂 Edited October 4, 2023 by Fibou 4
Gazz292 Posted October 5, 2023 Posted October 5, 2023 AFAIK the crossings work exactly how they should in Poland, even with some crossings having the warning siren / bell continuing to sound until the train has passed. There are PKP train drivers and dispatchers on the SimRail staff, 1
Fibou Posted October 5, 2023 Author Posted October 5, 2023 It is not about the bell when the barriers are downed. Problem is the barriers go down immediately when the button is pressed (or the command on computer used). I think (and you can see it on the videos on youtube) after the close button is used, only the alert (lights and bell) is active and after some time the barriers are going down.
Atoka220 Posted October 5, 2023 Posted October 5, 2023 Oh i see what you mean Yes it got into my mind as well. I just press the button/command and the gates are already going down without any warnings beforehand 1
Gazz292 Posted October 5, 2023 Posted October 5, 2023 oh, i see now, i only drive the train so the barriers are closed before i get to them.... i only see them raise if i switch to the rear view camera, never see them lower.
Fibou Posted October 5, 2023 Author Posted October 5, 2023 Here I find a video of the crossing at Sosnowiec Poludniowy, for exmaple. Bell and lights start at 1:30 Barriers go down at 1:41 Crossing is closed at 1:50 Simrail is missing time before 1:30 - 1:41 🙂 3
Gazz292 Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 It may be done like it is in SimRail due to the car drivers that have a tendency to push through the barriers, it used to be pretty bad, almost every crossing you'd get at least one car that went through when the barriers had lowered, nowadays i get the odd car push through, but now it's when my train is about 200 meters away rather than right Infront of me.
Atoka220 Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 (edited) I even crashed into a car at poludniowy cause i guess it got stuck between the instantly lowering barriers lol Edited October 6, 2023 by Atoka220 typo 1 2

Fibou Posted October 6, 2023 Author Posted October 6, 2023 Flashing si weird 🙂 But some time before barriers go down not 🙂
Gazz292 Posted October 6, 2023 Posted October 6, 2023 Digital cameras and LED's that are driven with pulse width modulation result in weird effects the human eye can not see, Modern car headlights appear to flash on and off on camera, they are doing but faster than the eye can notice, it's kinda like that affect of a wheel going backwards on camera at a certain speed. 1
Atoka220 Posted October 28, 2023 Posted October 28, 2023 Okay got back here after finding this video Here the gates start moving even before the lights come on huh 2
Fibou Posted November 5, 2023 Author Posted November 5, 2023 Somewhere it may be. Or maybe the dispatcher has the option to activate the warning lights first and close the barriers later. For example, the video I found is directly from Sosnowiec Poludniowy. 🧐

Gazz292 Posted November 9, 2023 Posted November 9, 2023 That's why some people like to throw ballast at signal box windows, and the Polish VR signalling sim has an event where someone is trying to kick the dispatcher post door in because he's held up at the barrier. I can only guess there is a station before the level crossing? and the rules are the same as in the UK... barriers have to be down for a train that is stopping in the platform before the crossing, just in-case the train over runs the end of the platform and fouls the crossing whilst it's open (crossing near me does this, and it can be damn annoying when you have to wait 5 minutes for the train to stop, pick up passengers then move off again)

Unless there's like a lot of distance from the stopping point to the crossing, that's that, but the again, at least or level crossings: 1st: The lights go off during some seconds. 2nd: The barriers start to go down. This has on it's right Paterna's station.
