sf_giants15 Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 I dont know if its just my card but everytime around 7pm till 8 pm game time when the sun is setting my graphics card (RTX 2070 super) gets pretty hot and noisey. Before and after this timespan its all normal. Maybe the sun setting lighting is not optimized? Is anyone experiencing the same? 1 1
olo101 Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 I have the same GPU and I don't have any issues whatsoever. What is your RAM? I recently upgraded mine from 16GB to 2x16GB and I no longer have drastic FPS drops.

TheFloxiCz Posted June 22, 2023 Posted June 22, 2023 (edited) It's already known (at least between players) that the sunset between 19:30 - 20:30 is very unoptimised and consuming too much HW (FPS). I personally doesn't like playing during this time, because I have only ~25FPS, instead of the 60FPS. And as you said, even my GPU has very challenging times with temp around 80-85°C during this hour 😁 It was already mentioned here: https://forum.simrail.eu/topic/5326-drastyczny-spadek-fps-okolice-%C5%82azy-%C5%82a-oraz-%C5%82c/ https://forum.simrail.eu/topic/4428-du%C5%BCy-spadek-wydajno%C5%9Bci-od-g-w%C5%82odowskiej-o-zachodzie-s%C5%82o%C5%84ca/ Edited June 22, 2023 by TheFloxiCz 1

Only this way you'll be able to see whether that happens under huge GPU stress. My common sense tells me if you have this issue with SimRail under certain situations than you'd might have it in the other games too. And the noise itself is what? Coming from a fan, buzzing noise or else?

On other games like for example Elden Ring or Hell Let Loose I dont have this Problem. Gerade eben schrieb olo101: And the noise itself is what? Coming from a fan, buzzing noise or else? Like a loud airflow noise coming from high RPM of the GPU fans. (I was monitoring the stats with software)
Deadlost Posted June 23, 2023 Posted June 23, 2023 My experience is also that SR runs heavy during sunset. I think it is due to lightning/shadow. My 2080 super usually reach around 80-85 C mark when running SR, frames staying in the ballpark 35-50 running 4k and fairly high settings. sky medium, vegitation 75% and extended vegitation shadows off(the real frame hog here during evening on my setup. My low fps disapeared with that setting) Check out vegitation settings if that will help out on the situation. Specially shadow settings. I also had an jetengine(gpu fan) when running Simrail, but I adjusted the fan curve of GPU slightly less agressive and case fans slightly up to increase the general flow of the air in tower. How is your airflow in the pc? Most gpu now don't extract the heated air, but will remain inside the pc for casefans to extract. Have not felt any degradation in fps due to GPU throttling down yet. And also, if long time since pc cleaning, do some vacuming around air intakes/fan filters/cooling fins etc. 2
