I have seen quite a few train horn whistle signs that are too high. This one is located near Wolbrom. There are quite a few more signs like this on various locations. 

Please take a look at the image below.

Sometimes those signs are placed directly on catenary poles instead of beeing stuck in the ground.

Can i ask what makes you think the signs should only be on low posts?  

A genuine question, as i am wondering if the signs and signals guide i made needs some things clarifying on it.... like i've read that some people think that distant signals are only 2 aspect signal heads, as i didn't make it clear in my guide that almost any 'main' signal head can be a distant one, as long as it has the W1 sign Infront of or on the signal post.

Thank you for the reply. I didn't know that actually. I saw many signs like this in the ground, so I assumed it was a bug if they were too high. My apologies.
