This is a universal suggestion for both mp/sp. The most exciting momment is seeing a spark from the point of contact with the overhead wires where it light up the whole scenery. These can happen when you lower or raise the connector. But also during the travel period. Not as bad. Adds a really nice touch to the simulation.

i was just thinking last night that the occasional arc flash would be nice, especially when driving at night.

Tho i'm sure those in that video were made to happen deliberately, lowering the pantograph when stationary should be under almost zero load, it's like the driver notched up a few times before lowering the panto, that would account for the sound of 'notching down' once the pantograph is lowered but still drawing an arc?

SimRail will have seasons eventually, and with snow or moisture on the wires these sparks are more frequent too.
