Pixelated platform texture

Most platform textures look nice, but there's one that looks pixelated and not very good especially under these lighting conditions. At first glance it looks like the strength of the normal map could be turned down a bit. There's definitely room for improvements I think:

I tought it was in bug report section so ticket would be created. 😕 Does it look like this every time? It might also be lost memory adress with wrong texture linked to material, like it happens with some objects from time to time.

Yeah, could be. The screenshot is from a few weeks back, but when I noticed it again yesterday I got reminded to create a thread about it. Should've grabbed a fresh one, but I had places to go and passengers to move!

Edit: I found a screenshot that I took yesterday because I thought it looked low res, especially the big cracks. I also thought the albedo wasn't as good as on the other platforms when I took a stroll on it:

It's not on par with the other platform textures that are crisp, not that it has to be that high res and crisp but it's noticeably lower res.

It looks for me as there's error in shader variant of platform with puddles. Normal intensity isn't taken to calculation and in it's place some rain related code is plugged in, that might result in semi random multiplier. Our rain specialist must look into it if that was intended.

Btw, you could mention that the raindrops looks like they're aligned to a grid, as in they align symmetrically 😉

But in regards to the low res platform: Notice the resolution differences between the 3 last images and the blurry platform. It's quite noticeable when you drive between them.

The platform looks good in daytime because the normal map is not that visible then. But when the sun is low the normal map light and shadows are stronger, values can range from almost all white to black under direct lighting conditions.

For a fair comparison between platform textures, these screenshots were taken when the sun was low:

Platforms are very close to the viewpoint of the player which I think makes them eligible for higher res textures 🙂
