Skully Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 So far I have maybe heard announcements 3 or 4 times. There was a bug with WindowsTTS loading but that has been fixed. Just to be sure: if I see the following I should hear the station announcement, right? I also see the following in the log which might be related. [2023-01-04 16:20:05]: Audio source ambient is null! Who does hear station announcements? And would you by chance have an Oculus connected or Oculus SDK installed?
Gazz292 Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 i stopped hearing announcements at the last station going north before the end of the map about a week ago, but the other day i did hear just the first part of the train departing announcement at that station, but no more, i dont even know what oculus is or does... so i'd say no i dont have it connected... i have been faffing around with the sound modes tho, using stereo when using my laptop speakers, selecting 7.1 surround sound (from the sound menu in the sim) when using my usb headphones or the AV amp in my bedroom, and i love the sounds when using the surround modes... I mostly drive the EU07, and i can imagine there's a lot of near deaf old drivers of that loco about, as the motor generator / converter whine / rumble is loud as F. but all part of the old loco's charm.
Skully Posted January 4, 2023 Author Posted January 4, 2023 So I rode the EP07 with windows open and voila I heard a couple of announcements. I think the issue is that the announcements are played when the train is far away approaching. They should really be played at least twice, once on approach, once when the train has stopped. Maybe again 1 minute before the train is departing. That's right up until Then things got quite again. Why need pokemon if you can have hangman. 😁
Gazz292 Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 Oh yes, in the EU07 at least, you need the side window open to hear station announcements 😞 So when i get in my train, i lower the window... something i had to do in tsw all the time to get a decent level of volume in the cab.
SurvivorSean Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 I did finally hear an announcement in English as I arrived telling people to stay back from the platform. Coolest thing I've heard in a TrainSim. Can't wait to see more things like that. Thanks Sean
Gazz292 Posted January 4, 2023 Posted January 4, 2023 it's awesome when you are running late, and as you pull into the platform you hear the 'The delayed train from xxx, to xxx is arriving on track xx... we apologise for the delay' I can almost feel the eyes of all the passengers on the platform glaring at me, as it's always the drivers fault the trains late (one train i got handed by the Ai was 59 minutes late)
Jasonic Posted January 9, 2023 Posted January 9, 2023 It’s so random when you do hear them, I have only heard them driving the EU07.
