Jasonic
I think if you are driving a train that would have a guard/train captain/manager that is responsible for closing the doors there should not be a countdown timer as you would just depart when you get right away from said person. In fact should there be a timer? even with driver only operated trains you should depart once it is departure time and the doors are clear. Gazz292
it would be nice to hear a whistle from the guard / station dispatcher telling you it's time to depart, I recall some of the 'Virtual Railroads Expert Line' 1980's era trains / coaches for train simulator (classic) has this feature, the coach doors would randomly close (something amazing for that simulator) and at departure time a whistle sound way played, i think the departure time was also randomized a little... again that sim had very rigid programming, just like tsw has, if you arrive 10 minutes late at a station, you were still made to wait your normal dwell time of 3 to 5 minutes, making you even later to the next stations, and on a long run you could end up a hour late due to this. with SimRail if you are late arriving at a station, you get a much shorter dwell time, i often see ~15 seconds, i can almost hear the station dispatchers shouting 'hurry up, get a move on, the trains late enough as it is' to the passengers as they get on the train. and SimRail dosent make the driver of a non central door operated coaching stock train operate the doors either 🙂
Jasonic
Maybe in the future we will see an actual AI guard waving a green flag and blowing a whistle, or maybe a human guard, that will be fun. Yeah I have seen the 15 sec, personally I find that too short with older stock with the manual narrow doors, of course station size and time of day can make all the difference to unloading/loading. Well, the timer is works really good to me as we don't have the real timetables of the trains yet, in fact, if you arrive with delay, the departure is inmediately as soon as passengers operations end. I would leave for the time being the timer.
Bescot
Interesting that the train captain/conductor on SP tells you on the radio when ready to start, but not on MP.
Loongeron
In SP, the driver informs the dispatcher that he is ready to depart. What is duplicated in the chat. Edited December 29, 2022 by Loongeron
