YouTube Copyright claim after streaming SimRail

I streamed SimRail Playtest last weekend and it was received well by my viewers. There was one snag. I got a copyright claim. You might consider for the release either getting some music composed for you specifically or use some royalty free music. It was claimed by Audiomachine on the music Shadowfall which bears similarity with the music used in the opening of the game. I am currently editing the video to remove all the music. It would be much better if I did not have to do this.

I'm not an expert on copyright infringements, for an expert opinion seek legal advice.

If SimRail S.A. does not hold a license to publicly play this song (or any other) then we should have an option to disable playing such songs.

If SimRail S.A. does not hold a license to use this song then please remove it.

To be honest I'd never heard of Shadowfall. The rift sounds like (Rock me) Amadeus by Falco. Sorry I'm old!

That's the first thing it came in my mind after hearing it both in the trailer and then as the intro music... And it (the original, I mean) got stuck again in my head 😁

Honestly I thought this was some sort of royalty free cover at first, non an "original" composition

Yep, it was in the charts while I was at school - that and Nina's 99 red balloons were probably the first German language songs I'd heard in the UK.  Aw, Falco he died young. Anyway going completely off topic here!

You can turn it off in the game settings maybe? Set music volume to zero - not sure if that works for the intro vid though.

Oh well I'm not quit at 1000 subscribers yet despite having over 10 years of content.  Ahh the life of someone who sticks with Train Sims for his content.  Hopefully it can be resolved if not I have been making sure the server is up BEFORE recording as of late.  I don't edit I simply live stream and I think YouTube does have an option to remove it if I recall.

pretty much any music that you play in videos on youtube will hit a content match nowadays,

it's not the owners of the music doing this, i know of some youtubers who paid for a license from the actual artist to use a piece of their music in a video, and got copyright claims which were upheld by youtube, because there are companies out there where all they do is file copyright claims,

They approach artists and say that for a small fee they will file copyright claims on their behalf on youtube,
When this happens the ad money earnt from the video goes to that company... and what do they pay the artist of the music when it is a real claim,  pretty much feck all.  the ones getting rich are the copyright claiming companies.

 

A channel i watch that has used one of the instrumental pieces from the 1800's as his intro music for years, then suddenly he was getting multiple copyright claims from different companies for the same bit of music,
music which has been in the public domain for about 100 years,  as soon as he clears up the false claims from one company, another tries it on.
