Wocka-Wocka Posted June 20 Posted June 20 Hi all. I am no expert in locos, but after getting more and more hours into specific locos, I noticed that I try to "avoid driving some them" because of "the sound being hard to bear". More specifically: The more I listen, I find specific sounds in E186 locomotives that "hurt" my ear. Even more detailed: In E186-134 today I measured a high pitch tone (#A4) that was "pulsating" This sound is probably coming from the electric transformers from some kind of equipment in the cabin nothing strange here If I turn the volume down, it is still there. If I turn down the volume a LOT, to the point where I almost can't hear "czubak" warning, or even that the train is moving: Still hear a very clear A4-pitched sinus tone So making this thread to discuss specifically about E186, and if there is a specific bug in the sound balance. Have anyone else experienced this in a E186? Can you hear the same thing I am hearing? Could this be caused by the balance of all sounds in the cabin "being wrong"? Is there a way of using software to fix this, without removing "realism"? for example using a so called "compressor of sound" include a debug mixer showing graphs of ALL the current sounds generated? I am also starting this thread to get a first balanced discussion about sound, where we do not ALWAYS talk about CD163. 😁 Because maybe the problem with CD163 is just that the "CD163 IS a CD163" And maybe this high pitched A4 tone is something that really IS overwhelming all other sounds in a real E186 cabin? Because then the "E186 is also just a E186" 🙂 In other words what I am talking about is IF there is a problem in the sound mixing. Not if the sounds are "annoying". I love both E186, and CD163.. amazing engines, and I can't imagine that all drivers in the real world have this "sound problem"... ..so bug? Or is my specific ears over-reacting? /Wocka, with actual Tinnitus problem last couple of months, where the only high sounds I have experienced are running this game.
