hoppturee- Posted January 17 Posted January 17 (edited) Hello! For some reason I have always had poor performance on the next branch, even before the last update that got merged. I get those stutters on the main branch as well but a bit less often. The locations where this happens are random everytime. I think it has to do with players being nearby, but I'm not sure. Settings: everything on max, 3440x1440 Configuration: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, 64 GB RAM DDR4 3600MHz, RTX 3090 24GB, Samsung 990 Evo Plus 2TB PCIe 4.0 clip1.mp4 clip2.mp4 Edited January 17 by hoppturee- 1
hoppturee- Posted January 18 Author Posted January 18 (edited) For some reason, when running SimRail via Proton on CachyOS (Linux) the stuttering is completely gone. I get some stutter when the next section of the map is loaded but nothing noticeable (it just shows up in the Steam FPS graph). Windows has been reinstalled a couple of times since I've started having this issue with no improvements. All drivers are up to date, as well as the Windows 11 version 25H2. DenarOfVirO Posted Thursday at 12:28 AM Posted Thursday at 12:28 AM (edited) Potential fix for high VRAM usage (RTX 5080) Hello, I managed to fix my performance issues. I had a problem where VRAM usage reached 19.5 - 21 GB on my RTX 5090. I deleted the following directory: \AppData\LocalLow\SimKol\SimRail. After doing this, the performance returned to normal and everything works fine now. Note: Be aware that deleting this folder will remove your single-player scenario progress marker/checkmark of route. Regards, Denar Edited Thursday at 12:29 AM by DenarOfVirO 1
rutgerluiten Posted Thursday at 08:05 AM Posted Thursday at 08:05 AM (edited) I noticed this too, after the latest update I had 60fps full time and a day later 30-40 fps, so there is some cache building thats causing low fps. Edited Thursday at 08:06 AM by rutgerluiten
Rafał Posted Thursday at 09:38 AM Posted Thursday at 09:38 AM (edited) Yep, same here. Previously I had around 100fps with drops to 60-70. Now almost everywhere I have around 40-50 fps with rtx4070. Edited Thursday at 09:39 AM by Rafał
Alex Posted Thursday at 09:54 AM Posted Thursday at 09:54 AM Same here, with Ryzen 5 5600X and RX 6700 10gb VRAM

Regards, Denar Thanks for that, have not had chance to try yet but does it rebuild the directory and the problem returns after a while? I know the bot has acknowledged this problem but let’s hope the devs are on to this(yes devs I know you must be very busy with the 25th getting nearer).
rutgerluiten Posted Thursday at 02:35 PM Posted Thursday at 02:35 PM Maybe verifying integrity in steam helps before starting Simrail as a temporary work around? Maybe then you won't lose your progress?
hoppturee- Posted Thursday at 07:22 PM Author Posted Thursday at 07:22 PM It seems the stuttering is caused by V-Sync when players are around. Disabling V-Sync fixes the kind of stuttering visible in the video.

rutgerluiten Posted Thursday at 08:50 PM Posted Thursday at 08:50 PM Change the light setting from ultra to high had a lot of impact, also the wind setting of the plants has great impact in performance. 1 1
