ETCS not offering mode SR after TRIP (MP and SP)

After a balise read error (see other bug reports) you get a TRIP which is normal. But once you confirm Post Trip and then want to press Start you do not get offered mode SR.
The hourglass just keeps going and it is no longer possible to go back to the ETCS menu. 
To get START back you need to disable and enable the EVC and enter all data again (as it should)

This problem occurs in both MP and SP.

As a workaround, you can isolate the EVC, effectively restarting it. Then input the train data etc. and start as usual.
