And you think all sorts of different restrictions, that many people wont like, will make it less complicated?

I hate to use the "simulation" argument, but here I feel it is quite relevant to say. It is a fact that this computer game is branded as a simulation. I am pretty certain that the Simrail team takes pride in delivering a product that is realistic and true-to-life, both technically and visually. My personal opinion is, that it would be a shame if it is required amend a bunch of functions, just to suit the ones that have a habit of pressing certain buttons by accident. By that ruining the experience for those expecting an accurate representation of a signalling interlocking. The only result of this, is compromising the goal of having a realistic simulation. We have already seen the Simrail team do this with certain functions. For an example setting a signal in the wrong direction, which will immediately remove the route. In these cases, the alternative would be to have an even worse situation that cannot be solved in any sensible way every time, because the technical foundation is not quite there yet. I am sure the developers aim to find a solution to this in the future. However when it comes to functions that work as intended, and don't work out to the users favour because they didn't know how it worked, then tough luck. The user should bite the bullet and take that minor inconvenience, as long as it's a problem that can be easily solved. Otherwise we will end in a situation where each button does something differently each week, because someone started to click a new button by accident. We can also start building new junctions at all stations that don't actually exist in the real life, because a new player in Gora Wlodowska sent a train into the wrong track, so it had to go on the left track to Zawiercie. Where is the limit? Instead, I believe we should have focus on teaching players how to use the interlocking correctly, and make it easier for them to find out what happens when you press the big red button, and how to reverse your actions. We have a handbook right now, which doesn't exactly explain all features, for an example the one mentioned in this thread. But in order to not overwhelm any new players, it should be quick and easy to find details about each function in the current interlocking, and how to use it. That is how to keep it realistic, and fun at the same time.

When the signal is showing red/Stop, the STOP command will have the locking function and the signal will turn purple. If the signal is showing green, it will only set the signal to Stop. It is also a question of safety. If a signal has been placed to Stop manually, it shouldn't be possible simply to set it back to green with the press of a button. It could be because of an emergency of some sort. I really cannot think of any reason at all, where you want to place a signal to red just to set it back to green. Neither for my own personal logic sense, or from a safety wise perspective

STOP has two functions: 1. The way you demonstrate it. A green signal can be set to Stop relatively easily. 2. Lock a signal to not show anything other than Stop. If you use the STOP command on a signal that is showing red, it will on the dispatcher screen indicate purple. This means it is locked. OSTOP has one function: Simply to unlock the signal from showing Stop. You can say it is the opposite of the function described above as number 2.

Appears there is some sort of problem afterall, because now there is a massive holdup in Warsawa for no apparent reason. This started with those two trains, no problem prior to these. All trains towards Warsawa are moving fine, and also entering Warsawa Wschodnia without problems

Hello Should be self-explanatory. I don't know whether this actually should be a bug-report or if there's a logical explanation. According to live map these trains were unoccupied and controlled by bots. I joined nearby train 19961 to confirm this, and was able to confirm these were not controlled by players. 29/01-2023 14:20 UTC

It's not. Requesting direction of the lineblock is explicitly to set the direction in the interlocking. It has nothing to do with the trains running. You may have gotten the direction accepted, but you have still not agreed at all on which train is coming if any. The other station can simply just reverse the direction again. The question of coordinating which train is coming is maybe not so obvious in Poludniowy. But at a station like Kazimierz it will be really important.

It has been mentioned before that it is on purpose for now that all trains are "through" services spawning at limit of the map and ending at limit of the map, except freight trains that start at Staszic. However it has been said that in the future, we will see services starting/ending on the map also.

In approximately km 31,1 between Szeligi and Biala Rawska in southbound direction there are two block signals, one for each track. They appear to be switched around. When passing, the one on the right track was unlit. The one on the left track was showing green. I was of course driving on the right track. Will get a screenshot if needed when I get the chance to do so.

Hello During the EN76 tutorial, I had a speed restriction of 20 km/h pop up in every single level crossing on the line. Only one I had a chance to react on before hand, was the one after Golonog, where the level crossing signal was showing two yellows. Please do let me know if I have misunderstood something at all 🙂 SimRail_log_2023-01-13_18-16-34.txt

I am sure no disrespect is supposed to be shown here, I believe it is a matter of a french expression been translated into English. Which in this case appeared to be misunderstood unfortunately, as it isn't really used in English

As much as I want this to release today and be a success story for the developers... the only thing I don't want to happen is for this to release today with a substantial bug like this looks like, if only to say they kept their promise of release on the advertised release date.

An interesting observation: It looks like the AI is able to lock up itself already 😄 At the moment where we have no players, you are able to observe the AI dispatchers and AI drivers play along on the various servers on the Simrail live-map. It appears that the single-tracked line between Sosnowiec Dandowka and Sosnowiec Poludniowy is forming a gridlock of some sort. Currently looking at the DE1 server, there are trains is a huge queue between Sosnowiec Glowny and Katowice. I am counting 11 trains on the right-side track from Katowice Zawodzie to Sosnowiec Glowny junction. Looking into the details... it looks like the AI dispatcher at Sosnowiec Poludniowy has let two trains into each own platform track going in the same direction towards Sosnowiec Dandowka. Unfortunately, a train is approaching Sosnowiec Poludniowy in the opposite direction, but now there is no platform available. This has turned into a massive gridlock, with: Katowice Zawodzie filling up all platforms, making it unable to take any traffic - Sosnowiec Dandowka filling up all platforms - and even Katowice Main has filled up all 8 platform tracks. What is even more interesting is, that this only has happened on a couple of servers. The rest are still running perfectly. I am almost certain that the Simrail-team knows about it, and I have no doubt that they will have it all fixed in time for launch today 😄 The result would be very interesting otherwise...

Who has the 'final' say on when a passenger service departs?
lund456 replied to Urgentemente's topic in General Discussion
Except for buses in my country. It is advertised that you must expect that the bus can depart up to 2 minutes prior to it's scheduled departure. Our trains close the doors up to 60 seconds before departure, which is also advertised. Obviously you can't enter the train when the doors are closed. It definitely varies from country to country -
Speed restriction starts too early
lund456 replied to lund456's topic in Bug reporting (multiplayer)
I mistook the signs. To begin with I thought it meant that a 40 was upcoming. Because earlier it only enforced 40 km/h about 500 meters further down. But I realize now that the speed is actually correct. But on the other hand, indeed I do not remember a warning sign for the 40 either 🙂 -
Hello I have noticed the 40 km/h restriction on approach into Katowice from Zawodzie on the far right track begins too early (in the system) The HUD detects a speed restriction of 40 km/h when passing the warning sign for the upcoming 40 km/h restriction. According to the F2 HUD, the 40 km/h restriction begins about 100 metres after the 70 km/h restriction, which appeared exactly to be at the warning sign for the same restriction. I believe this wasn't a problem some days ago, and only happened recently. Let me know if you need anything else, or I misunderstood something 🙂
