Hello

During my journey, I want to create some random events.
for an example, I have a passenger troubles ( heart attack, ......) or malfunction on my train.

if I stop too long on the platform, the AI will mange the train instead of me.

How can we manage this kind of random events?

Thanks to the cooperation of the communities, a multilingual tutorial has been created for all players who are either new to the game or don't know how to operate the trains currently available in SimRail.

The tutorials contain subtitles that explain step by step how to activate a train.
-----

I have a bug report pending in the other forum section but just advance warning to anyone playing the Lodz Junction scenarios where a loco run round is required. Don’t change the starting time when loading the run (e.g. two or three hours earlier) as after you complete the run round move at Lodz. Part 2 of the scenario reverts to the original times when the Timetable window returns. So in my case, I was sat in Lodz at 0840 with the train not due to leave until 1137. (IC 3720). As an aside, once you reach this location it is no longer possible to save the game (also logged in the pending bug report).

Have to wonder if this was properly tested, what would happen with effectively two part scenarios using the start time modifier?

Would SimRail benefit players if it also was capable of being a sandbox simulator? I kind of thought that was what the editor would allow, but A you have to know LUA coding (which I am too stupid to do even after reading how to do it, and the instructions are in my view not written for non coders), B you are only creating scenarios, and C there is no way to just free drive the map. Having the sandbox would allow a lot more practice in driving, exploring the beautiful world that was recreated, and coupling to consists. Sorry to say it but the tutorials kind of suck. Partly due to the age and some being broken.

The tutorials don't go over signage/signals, and you are at the mercy of the tutorial (ETCS 1 and 2 are horrible. A glitch in the game can fail you immediate, the overly detailed intro can never be skipped, and in my case the camera is all wonked up) and this is where a sandbox would be more useful in learning.

Maybe the majority of you could not care less for a sandbox mode for the game (even with an ability to disable the arcade style XP/points), but for me I like to have that immersion.

There are two brake-related buttons on the control panel of the Dragon 2 locomotive whose functions I do not understand.

When the "brake releaser" button is pressed, it rapidly reduces the indicated brake cylinder pressure to 0, but only while it is pressed. When the button is released, brake cylinder pressure returns to approximately its original level. I had originally assumed that this button could accelerate the process of releasing the train's brakes. However, using this button while the brakes are releasing, after having charged the brake pipe to above 5 bar, does not appear to accelerate brake release in any useful way. It appears that there is a "true" level of brake cylinder pressure which can only decrease slowly. When the button is released, indicated brake cylinder pressure returns to that level. Under what circumstances, if any, does this button actually help to release the brakes?

Toward the right side of the control panel, near the brake gauges, there is a "brake assimilation" button. Pressing it has no obvious effect. What does this button do, and under what circumstances is it used?

To get to know the vehicle before playing multiplayer, I started the ‘vehicle test’ Żmigród scenario with the Impuls 2. However, I cannot figure out how to perform ETCS SOM to be able to drive – be it in level NTC, 1 or 2. The DMI boots in SB mode to a speed gauge and a prompt to enter driver number. I can enter some number here and press a button to proceed to entering my train number. However, on that screen, there is no button allowing me to confirm the number entered, only one to go back to the previous screen. I have tried pressing the separate ETCS acknowledgement button. This didn't do anything.

And if I start driving anyway, ETCS automatically stops me saying I moved without authorisation (of course, since I'm still in SB mode).

This happens no matter if I choose the scenario as ‘cold start’ or ‘ready to drive’ (though of course with cold start it only happens once I've switched on the battery and activated the cab).

Is this a bug? Or have I missed some vital step?

I am wondering how everyone drives on the regional services between Katowice and Zawiercie, and Warsawa and Skierniewice, and what is the most realistic. I've noticed that the timetable is incredibly strict, and when coupled with station gaps of about three kilometres it is very easy to accumulate one or two minute delays.

With the EN76 I have adopted an 'S Bahn' driving style, where I get the train moving with around 20% throttle and then kick it to 100%, and vice-versa when stopping (when travelling 120 km/h I start bringing on the brakes at around 650 m from the platform end, and at 160 km/h about 1 km away) since the train mostly uses regenerative braking so wear should not be too big of an issue.

For the Kibels, I drive a bit more cautiously, using a maximum of 70% braking force since they only use friction brakes. With with these trains I don't think it's actually possible to always be on schedule no matter what you do since it takes so long to get up to speed.

One thing I noticed early on in SimRail when I first played the demo was there is no way to apply handbrakes to consists during coupling. What I mean is setting the handbrakes so that they do not move when trying to couple to them. It's bad enough these trains all have bumpers that act like a spring board ricocheting the loco backward and shoving the consist forward. This happens at 1 MPH. The only handbrake we can even control is in the locos.

In the US depending on the length of the consist one or more handbrakes are set to prevent movement in a yard. Granted in the US our trains use knuckle couplers which instantly grab and temporarily hold until the locking pin is put in place. This is accomplished by a 3 to 5 MPH "slam" into the car. This is a big safety thing.

You can waste so much time trying to connect to consists (and I have) because we can't lock consist handbrakes. I know that in Derail Valley the same types of coupling system is used as in SimRail, but in that game you can turn the handbrakes to secure them.

Can anyone recall or say what the procedure is for this? After the wife distracted me yesterday evening (!) I overshot a station while doing a steam hauled local service. After coming to a halt with a full brake application I reversed back into the platform then when station duties complete set the reverser to full forward, released the brakes but when I opened the regulator the valves simply filled to capacity and the train wouldn’t move. I opened the cylinder cocks and still unable to move. Finally operated the brake release handle but everything remained locked up.

At that point the only option was to reload my saved game and try again. However, I’ve had this issue before on another run where, for some unexplained reason, the steam loco simply stops working and you can’t move.

…from Warsaw to Katowice over the course of several evenings. The save game isn’t yet perfect but worked well enough to finally let me play a scenario through to conclusion. Looking forward to exploring more of the single player stuff and doing some substitutions, particularly with the steam loco.

My only caveat is that running the three and a half hour scenario only gave something like 1300 XP. So for those into levelling up etc., running SP is not going to advance you very quickly.

So thanks again to SimRail S.A. and SimKol for finally enabling those of us who don’t have the time to do a whole section in MP, the chance to see a whole run in SP.

Now all SP needs is a TSW style all day timetable and the ability to play as signaller.

	Hello,

I know this shouldn't happen when using the train brake properly, but when remaining in the "S" position for too long, the brakes of the wagons can't be released anymore without using the "S" position. I don't know of any locomotive in the game that allows the main pipe pressure to be that ridiculously high (7.7 bar) for a longer time. As you can see in my screenshots, the cylinder pressures go up to 2.1 bar every time the main pipe pressure is below 7.7 bar, and normal braking isn't possible anymore. The cylinder pressures also won't restore themselves just by waiting. Is there any way to reset this condition in a scenario?

I know that this SimRail is based on Polish railroading, but why would timetables need to be a thing for freight? Based on what I've learned freight takes a backseat to commuter and high speed trains in this. Timetables don't make sense in this case due to their low priority status. Freight timetables will put drivers behind schedule because they have to always wait for the commuter or high speeds which costs points in the game. They are far slower to get to speed (again causing delays and loss of points).

In the real world freight can take hours to even depart from a yard (I know there is none of that in the game). While freight does have to be delivered timely, it's far different than passenger.

I also feel the point system makes the game more of an arcade (getting too close to TSW/TSC or Trainz sessions) vs. a true simulator. This isn't a gripe, but rather an observation of simulation vs. the simcade. I have heard there is a professional version of SimRail used to train really drivers, and I'm sure that doesn't have the arcade aspect.

Granted if I knew how to build my own scenarios I would leave timetables out of freight runs. To be blunt I am no coder, I know nothing about LUA (even reading the instruction breaks my brain), and patience lacks in my personality at my age.

Hi all. Just picked up the new CD163 DLC, but none of the current routes (base game not workshop) have this train listed as an option. Do I have to spawn it in myself, or will this be added to the core routes? Currently the only way to drive it is through the tutorial.
I'm curious if there are people who don't experience any video stutters, running Simrail.. If so please what kind of system and configuration are you using?

I get quite bothered by random video jerks and stutters and have done EVERYTHING I can think of to identify, quantify, correlate and try to eliminate. To be fair this isn't the only game, but it doesn't happen in every game, or at least it's less noticable in others.

I have a Ryzen 9800X3D, with 7900XT GPU, 64GB low latency DRAM, and a NVME ssd. So it's a pretty good system. I'm running medium-high settings, with minimized LOD, 1/2 textures, and relatively high draw distances. I get from 40 to 120 FPS depending on area. Simrail is definitely CPU limited, and mostly single thread, as many games are. I gathered extensive PC metrics of Frametime generation data, as well as VRAM, CPU and GPU activities, and made graphs and used python scripting to compare all different settings. I can most definitely correlate every stutter to exactly the times when content is being moved into VRAM, so there is some I/O wait. I've optimized my VRAM timings and tuned and optimized CPU per core. I've played with different graphics settings in Simrail, and checked all background activities and driver latencies.. There is literally nothing that makes a change in this and is independent of FPS. I assume it's the game architecture and Unity, and just can't be helped, unless devs optimize better.

Is this happening to everyone? Do people just learn to deal with this?

	Hi,

One of the routes will obviousle not be set since these route are overlaping. But I´m not able to set the failing route even after a while when the bot train is gone and the route should be clear.

Someone just told me about this and I think it's a bit insane. If you go through the official SimRail scenarios and listen to some of the files, you'll find very familiar voices. Including (en/):

		Donald Trump (Ł1_08_carg_ŁP_G2)

		Joe Biden (Ł1_02_tlk_WŁ_Sk2)

		Barack Obama (Ł1_08_carg_ŁP_Ko2)

		Jeremy Clarkson (Krk_04_tlk_KatoKrk_K5)

		Samuel L Jackson (Krk_04_tlk_KatoKrk_Kz5)

and probably many more that I don't recognize

Some of them are used multiple times; some of them (e.g. Obama, Biden and I think Clarkson) appear also in some of the Polish versions (e.g. pl/Ł1_03_r_ŁS_Sk2.mp3).

I don't mind AI in video games, if it is done ethically (i.e. from proper sources with authorization) and declared as such. But this is neither - I'm pretty sure there's no permission to use those voices, and SimRail isn't listed as using AI on the Steam page, which I think is also a violation of the Steam ToS.

Could we get some kind of official statement on this?

	Hi

I'm making a new single player scenario where I'm starting with some shunting movements.
But when finished shunting at signal LB_Tm305 I can't move any further than to the end of the station platform, where there is no signal.

From signal LB_Tm305, LUA Developer tool gives me some routing options. For example LB_Tm305 -> LB_M4kps (Maneuver) or LC_S4 -> LC_Tkps (Train).

If I select route LB_Tm305 -> LB_M4kps signal LB_Tm305 turns white and I can drive past it but I can't go any further than to the end of the station plaform.
If I select route LC_S4 -> LC_Tkps signal LB_Tm305 keeps the blue light on and will not let me pass.

What am I missing here? Has this some thing to do with changing train state from Maneuvering to driving and if so, how can I do that?
How can I set a route from signal LB_Tm305 to main signal LC_S4?

So I wanted to try this route, with the Pendolino and default options (starting cold). Since I'm new to ETCS, I probably entered some data wrong - I entered a random driver's number since I don't know where to find it, and as train number I entered the number on the front page of the train documents.
Then I entered, as mode, ETCS level 1, which was probably wrong, since I didn't know how to tell what system is in use from the train documents.
My issue is that, when the system complained about a mismatch (with the flashing yellow icon) I could not acknowledge the mismatch, and if I tried to go to "Start" again to re-enter data, all the options were gray; and even the "override" page has the option 1, EoA, grayed out. I tried moving the train anyway, and it of course went into emergency braking.
The system looks hung, as in I can see no way to unlock it. Also, if I try turning everything off including the batteries, the cab stays on. And if I try to lower the pantograph, it stays up, even with the cab deactivated and the batteries commanded to off.

So: I obviously made some mistakes when setting up the train; but is it normal that I found myself in such a locked state?

	Thanks

Stuck in training mode with what to do

As said, I am new here. So forgive me if I am not knowing everything to do with this program.

I pick a demo and it is a loop of track with sidings.

I get in the cabin and am told to "go until I get to the/a STOP signal". I start moving and do the loop.

I notice there is a RED signal ahead of me (top right of screen - cheat mode on) but as I get closer to it, it clears me to "continue" and I am stuck going around and around the loop.

IF I am lucky I get to the red light and stop. Usually by virtue I am way overspeed and actually go past it. However.......

It it "reset" and I am within throwing distance of the red light.

The first couple of times I didn't "shut down the cabin" and went to the other end of the train and became stuck there as I couldn't reverse the train.

I was then told I had to shut down the cabin first. Yeah, ok, fair enough. But since being told that, I am unable to get to the RED LIGHT again.

To me this is just annoying and completely detractive from enjoying the game.

I could upload a heap of screen shots but as I am new here, I am not sure what I can/can't do at this stage.

Yeah, I could try and hope for the best, but......

	To me that seems pompous.

So, the scenario at this point:

I am learning to drive the loco. I am in/on a loop track and it is mentioned there are other carriages to access.
I set of doing the loop but the RED LIGHT that is about where I join the loop keeps going GREEN as I approach it.
So getting to it is somewhat impossible.

The only way I can get to it is basically speed the entire loop and over run it because I am braking too late.
If I slow down carefully to not do that the light turns GREEN and I am back to square one.

On a side note, after a lot of messing around and finding the screenshots, they don't seem to be numbered sequentially.
I have no idea how they are numbered, but when I have the window open showing them, they are in some weird order.
So that isn't helping me if I want to share them as their numbers seem somewhat random and it would make it difficult for me to know when they ere taken.

	Hi,

I've discovered how to run SimRail with Tobii Eye Tracker 5, without needing FaceTrackNoIR (link to the post here). You’ll only need Tobii Game Hub (as for all other games using Tobii) and OpenTrack software.

			Download OpenTrack from: https://github.com/opentrack/opentrack/releases

Open Tobii Game Hub, go to the Games section, and select OpenTrack. Then click the folder icon with a magnifying glass next to the OpenTrack title.

	3. Select the .exe file from the folder where OpenTrack is installed.

	4. Here you can customize the tracker settings.

	5. Launch the OpenTrack app. Set Input to UDP over network, Output to freetrack 2.0 Enhanced, and leave the Filter option blank.

	6. In the OpenTrack app, click on Options. Go to the Shortcuts tab and uncheck Center at startup. Then go back to the main window and click on Mapping. Make sure all axes are configured like this:

									7. Now, start the tracking in OpenTrack.

	8. Make sure that TrackIR is enabled in the SimRail settings.

You need to have both OpenTrack and Tobii Game Hub running for the head tracking to work. This works both on singleplayer and multiplayer.

	Enjoy! :)
